A Dominant’s reactions to everything is important. Being calm as a Dominant is important. A Dominant that is jittery, easily upset, volatile, or angry doesn’t set a good example for the submissive or build much trust with the submissive. Submissives need a steady, guiding hand from a Dominant so that they themselves can be calm and assured of the Dominant’s control of all situations as well as the Dominant’s own self-control. A Dominant that is jittery, can give the submissive doubts about if the Dominant can actually handle the responsibilities of having a submissive. An easily upsettable Dominant can make the submissive frightened and tense while taking care of their responsibilities. Afraid they will be chastised or punished unfairly because the Dominant gets upset easily. A volatile Dominant will have a submissive that is on edge, walking on eggshells, waiting for the fury to come for whatever reason. This can make the submissive themselves jittery and nervous. Anger in the Dominant on a constant basis can make the submissive cower in fear, flinch at the sound of the Dominant’s voice or movement of his hand. None of these reactions by a submissive to these types of emotions from a Dominant would be unreasonable, but they would probably still be considered unacceptable by that Dominant. Part of a Dominant’s job is to make the submissive at ease in their submission. Confident in their submission. The best way to do that is by showing calm in all situations possible. When not able to be calm, a cooling off period is an advisable method for the Dominant to regain calm and allow the submissive to remain confident in their choice of Dominant. © 1/23/24 Ronald Dirienzo
