Gratitude

In the BDSM Lifestyle, submissives are expected to show gratitude toward the Dominant.
“Thank you Sir/Ma’am” is a basic phrase linked to many protocols that are common in dynamics.
Such as thanking the Dominant for allowing the submissive to orgasm, or thanking the Dominant after the Dominant orgasms for being allowed to be on the receiving end of the orgasm, as well as for any gifts or compliments.
Dominants, too, should show gratitude to the submissive. After all, even though the submissive is expected to follow commands, thanking them for bring a drink or serving a meal, etc. is not only polite, but also shows the submissive you appreciate their effort and service. And submissives, as a whole want to be appreciated for what they do. To constantly submit, obey and serve without getting any appreciation, recognition or gratitude can where the submissive’s emotions and mental state down to where they wonder if it’s all worth it. Or if there is a better, more deserving Dominant out there.
Dominants and submissives need each other to be complete. While there are some that have nothing emotionally invested in the dynamic, there still needs to be a reason to remain together.
Simple, polite gratitude can go a long way toward strengthening a dynamic.
