 We all know there is no perfection in life.
Whether we are looking for a partner, setting up protocols and rules, making limits or anything else, it is a matter of compromising to find an ideal situation that both partners can live with. It is rare that both partners want the exact same dynamic in the modern world due to financial, time and job commitments, among a myriad of other things.
Even what ideal means to each of us can be different. What each of us values the most can be different. Not to mention values can change as we evolve. What one person can do without in a dynamic another may require unconditionally. Which is why as we all know finding a suitable partner can be so difficult.
Some people are more accepting of compromise than others. Some will just walk away when things are not just as they imagine they should be. The sad thing is that it is not always a mutual choice to break up over what is ideal. It makes it hard to decide whether to “give it a try” or “walk away” when you are vetting and differences in likes and dislikes come up. You have to wonder if the differences are too big or can be ironed out to make things ideal for both of you. Or will you be investing your time in a no win situation with someone that will not accept compromise ultimately.
Perfection is impossible to find, but ideal can be tiresome and frustrating to find.
Is it out there for everyone? While I hope so, reality tends to slap hope in the face. It takes dedication to what your dream is. What you want in life, to keep going to find that ideal. It can be easy to just give in and accept whatever comes your way. But then you have no one to blame when it fails, because you accepted the situation.
Ideal doesn’t come easy. Take your time, be patient and be thorough. When ideal finally arrives, savor it and be the best partner you can be.
