Trump's NATO remarks Saturday Trump recounted the remarks during a campaign rally Saturday, saying he “would encourage” Russia “to do whatever the hell they want” to countries that are “delinquent” on NATO financial and military contributions. Wonderful, just wonderful. Let's just torpedo NATO and let Russia take over Europe. How does this wannabe dictator keep people following him???? |

Hi Brandy, That surprises me, there may be hope for you yet. I never attack your political rants because I've read your comments on other non-political blogs. Quite often, there you appear fair and balanced. Now, when you're on a political post, I liken it to Jekyll and Hyde. Jekyll is worth a response, Hyde not so much.

Ron, I agree Trump is a great danger to peace. The idea that Putin doesn't want Europe is almost laughable. Had his take over of Ukraine gone to plan, I am sure he would have started trying to de-stablise countries bordering Ukraine. In recent months several of his mouth pieces have talked of six other countries requiring de-nazi-fication. Would those be the six countries that border Ukraine, Belrus & Russia? Sorry, seven countries, but then Victor Orban already seems to be an ally. Or eight if you include Moldova, but had things gone to plan, Moldova would have been swallowed with Ukraine. One of the mouth pieces even talked of taking back East Germany! He will take everything he can. In 1994 Russia, the US, & the UK signed the Budapest Memorandum. Russia, the US & the UK agreed to recognise Belarus, Kazakhstan, & Ukraine. Agreeing to respect the said countries borders. Refrain from threat or use of force against said countries. Refrain from economic coercion designed to subordiate said countries. If we don't stand by our agreements, that only encourages countries like; China, North Korea, & Iran. As for NATO, Yes, it is true some countries haven't been meeting the spending targets & they should do. Since the formation of NATO only one country has invoked the "An attack on one, is an attack on all" protocal. When George W Bush declared the war on terror, those were European troops dying alongside their American counterparts. Mainly British, but not exclusively.

Dave , The technical prerequisites for a common Europe would undoubtedly be in place! A common, concentrated power! You will never get the interests of a common Europe under one hat! Many simply have other interests! But Russia will never get back what they had, they are too weak on their own and the others are warned! I wonder why everyone is looking at the USA! They have lied to and abused their own allies! And now they are screaming again! The EU has 450 million inhabitants, a concentrated power in terms of technology and economy, but patchwork in terms of cohesion! And the GB has turned tail! We could live without the fast food and the toxic cola! If you torpedo their technology, they are no longer so powerful! If they isolate themselves even less! If their reserve currency is no longer accepted they are BANKRUPT!!! The USA should also think about their supposedly leading "role"! Damn it all! Do they think they have reached the end of wisdom???
