Coming in different types, abuse is NEVER acceptable in the BDSM Lifestyle.
Yes I know there are those that enjoy verbally talking down to their submissive and submissives that enjoy being talked down to. That is a part of the dynamic that is agreed on before consent is given with the aim to satisfy BOTH partner’s needs.
Anything done outside of consent is abusive.
Physical abuse includes ignoring limits and Safewords. Continually causing injuries. Forcing pain on another, restraining another to keep them from leaving the relationship. Using force to prevent another from leaving a relationship. In short, anything that causes the physical wellbeing of another to be below healthy and normal.
Emotional abuse includes gaslighting. Cutting off another from friends and family suing lies, Dishonesty to another. Treating another negatively to break the person’s spirit. Using rage as a tool to sadden or bully another. Using coercion, manipulation and blackmail to get what you want from another.
Intellectual abuse includes dishonesty, untrustworthiness, and lack of communication. Trying to convince another that they are mentally deficient, forgetful or lacking the intelligence that they truly have to gain superiority and control over another. Abuse is anything that breaks down the physical, emotional and mental safety, health and wellbeing of another.
And don’t kid yourself, BOTH partners can be abusive in a relationship.
In different ways, it takes strength to be Dominant and it takes strength to be submissive.
These strengths should be used to grow the relationship and dynamic, not break a partner to your will by being abusive.
There is no happiness in an abusive relationship or dynamic.
If you feel you are being abused, look for help and ask for it. Don’t try to “fix” an abusive partner.
If all else fails, RUN, away no matter what the price to pay. No one deserves to be abused.
