There are reasons for protocols and rules in the BDSM lifestyle dynamic. Which means they need to be enforced to make them valid and ensure they do what they are supposed to do. But enforcing rules and protocols shouldn’t be a blanket “you transgressed, so you must be punished”. Enforcement should be done fairly and with an open mind or else it is just a tyrannical response. Reasons and circumstances for transgressions should be looked at and considered, instead of making snap decisions. There are times that a seeming transgression was the better choice than blind obedience to a rule or protocol. While there are some submissives that might like a tyrant, the tyrant mentality, and responses, I believe there are more submissives that prefer a Dominant that is thoughtful with their decisions and uses wisdom when enforcing rules and protocols. And of course, enforcement should never be done in anger, which is where snap judgements are often made with emotion rather than good judgement. Respect and trust is easier made and better strengthened when the Dominant is fair. © 3/20/24 Ronald Dirienzo

Rules can be quite challenging when added to the dynamic. Some will welcome them and some will not. A forgetful sub might have to re-evaluate her situation.
