Fatigue

Everyone gets tired. We all have to sleep because our minds and bodies need rest to remove toxins that build up in our brain while we are awake and to rejuvenate the process in our body to fight disease and help our immune system.
We are all familiar with that in our daily life.
Then there is fatigue. It’s not about getting sleepy. It’s about your body and or mind being worn out from the use of energy by your body.
Fatigue levels are important to monitor when in scene play, as well as during strenuous activities.
As your body and mind fatigue, you lose the ability to act and respond physically. Your reactions become dulled, slower, and less accurate. Mentally, you become a bit fuzzy. Your alertness fades. Your choices can become muddled, decision making not as well thought out.
Fatigue leads to accidents due to the lack of total control of your body, mind and senses.
As a person that suffers from CFS/ME, I am acutely aware of what fatigue can do to a person since I live with its effects on a daily basis. I’ve had to learn to recognize the effects of fatigue on my body and mind so that I can control the length of all my activities, including scene play so I can ensure the safety of my submissive.
There will always be times when you have set aside time for scene play, but you are not feeling 100%. You are worn out from work or fighting traffic, doing yard work, or what have you. Sometimes it is better to delay or cancel scene play, rather than continue with fatigue that can lead to accidents that can causes harm not only because the Dominant is fatigued and may err in judgement and ability, but also because the submissive may err in judgement and of what they can handle.
It is always better to be safe than sorry.
