As we get older, our bodies start to break down. For some of us injuries and illnesses at a younger age take their toll physically.
In the BDSM Lifestyle, a lifestyle that often has strict protocols to be adhered to, our bodies and their limitations can get in the way of many protocols.
Kneeling, for a submissive is a basic protocol. But sooner or later knees fail. Kneeling becomes difficult if not impossible. Bondage positions for more mature submissives can be grueling on the joints, especially if arthritis is present.
Vertigo, Lyme Decease and other illnesses affect the equilibrium of a person. Making bowing or bending over a trial to stay on ones feet and not fall flat on their face.
Blood pressure issues can make bondage, inverted suspension and strenuous activity impossible.
When these and many more issues come along in life, we have choices to make.
A Dominant can set the limited capability submissive free and seek another.
We can walk away from the Lifestyle
We can try to ignore the issue for as long as we can and endure the pain and failures.
OR, we can make accommodations for the frailties that come along in life.
Some people will say if the submissive or Dominant can’t fulfill their roles without accommodation they aren’t worth the time and it is time to move on. IMO, this way of thinking is selfish and uncaring. Poor traits for a respectable Dominant. It isn’t difficult to accommodate a submissive will physical ailments, disabilities or limited capabilities.
Just because a submissive can’t touch their toes, make their elbows meet behind their back, cross their wrists behind their back, fold their arms behind their back, kneel for extended periods or at all, clean the home all day, make dinner and scene play for hours on end, all in the same day, doesn’t mean they don’t have worth, aren’t a good submissive, aren’t trying or should be respected any differently than a healthy flexible, energetic submissive.
And the same goes for Dominants when their health begins to fail them.
Accommodate your submissive when necessary. Accommodate your Dominant when necessary.
The grass isn’t always greener with a healthy partner.

An understanding dominant is the best dominant ever! We all must be willing to adapt.
