While confidence, as a trait in both a Dominant and a submissive is very desirable, arrogance is a trait that is not. For a Dominant, arrogance shows itself as being overbearing and haughty. They lack any kind of humbleness. Many times they feel they are not only better than the submissive, but also better than any Dominant. They tend to brag about themselves and their abilities, while down playing everyone else’s. While some arrogant Dominant may be able to back up their boasts, many can’t. IMO, a respectable Dominant shouldn’t have to brag. They let their body of work attest to their abilities and knowledge. They don’t need to be thought of as the best, they just want to be the best they can be. For a submissive, arrogance can be very irksome for a Dominant. It can often come off as the submissive knows more than the Dominant and can definitely put off other submissives as brashness and a big ego. While Alpha submissives need a take charge attitude with beta submissives, arrogance about it while cause conflicts, which sooner or later, the Dominant will need to address. No matter how good we are at something, humbleness is appreciated much more than arrogance, by our peers, as well as partners. © 4/29/24 Ronald Dirienzo
