Safe Words and Limits (reply)

I realized limits and safe words are not a trust issue

In a relationship where you are placing
your safety and well being in someone
else's hands trust is essential.
Since trust is at it's lowest threshold
during first few meetings, the necessity
of having a safe word is absolute!
Most partners will dispense with
a safe word after trust as
becomes established.

A safe word is what you use
in the place of trust until you
reach that level in your relationship.

Safe words are used in place of the trust that should have been earned in the first few meetings.

It isn't about "should have
been". It simply takes time
together for deep trust to
develop. The safe word gives
everyone time for a safe
relationship to develop while
including BDSM activities.
A relationship without those
activities or a safe word would
just be dating.
