Shaving a slaves head

I have seen this done a lot. Have always been curious as to the why it is done. For me my hair is my glory. My hair is my favorite attribute. It's my greatest source of vanity really. So I asked a few Masters why they do this. What I sort of got out of it and I hope I have not misread; is that they do as a way of stripping pride and resetting someone. Is that sort of like when you are in<b> military </font></b>boot camp and they break you down and rebuild you? Maybe it is.

My personal experience with it. So when I had just reverted to Islam and was still kind of wild my Muslim husband did a thing. I was being difficult but it was a hard time for me adjusting. I was being very mouthy and obnoxious. He was in the bathroom and called me in there. So I go in. This man that was probably 50 pounds lighter then I buy way stronger than I put me down on the floor fast. He chopped off my hair spit in my face and said something to the effect of now you'll be humble. And I was. I was very humble and ashamed. I looked like a boy. That wasn't exactly the first time he exerted his Will over mine. It was just the most shocking thing because that reminder was there for a whole year.

I think I am going to get my hair shaved off soon. So this is just my musings on the possible reasons why.
