Ride of the Alpha Beast


As the moon's silver light danced across the murky waters, the air was thick with the scent of decay and the promise of something primal. In the heart of the swamp, where the shadows were deepest, the alpha beast stirred from his silent watch.

His scales, like ancient armor, glinted with the memory of battles won, and his tail coiled like a living serpent, ready to strike. His eyes, a chilling blend of amber and malice, fixed upon the distant glow of a human settlement, his thoughts turning to the warmth that could be found beneath those flickering lights.

The alligator's maw, a cavern of sharp teeth, parts as he issues a low, warning bellow, a sound that sent shivers down the spines of the creatures that skulked within the swamp. It was a sound that declared his dominance, a sound that spoke of a hunger that could never be sated by the fish and reptiles that usually filled his belly. No, tonight he hungered for something more.

With a power that defied the gentle flow of the water, the alpha beast surged towards the human village, his movements almost silent, almost graceful, for all his size and sinew.

His eyes never wavered from his target, a silhouette that stood out against the nurturing glow of the hearth fires. He knew her by scent, by the way her heart raced when she caught the glint of his gaze across the water.
