Off my fucking lawn that is. Today I am grateful for Daniel Sloss. If you aren't familiar with him, he's a comedian. An outrageous and edgy one. Usually I don't go for "shock factor" in anything. Ever. Buuuuuuuuuttttttt for a youngish guy under 30 hes got his head screwed on straight no matter what comes out of his mouth. He's sharp at playing the word and assumption game and he takes delight in poking fun at media and expectations and gender peculiarities and disparities and how so often we, in social situations, are....different then the real us. How does he ft into my world as a gratitude? Nope, its not the to die for accent or his cutiepieness or even the facial expressions he does so well. Its that he touched on something in his most recent show "X" that has been bothering me about me more and more as I age. Ive never been one to want or need to have what anyone else does. I dont monitor or try to keep up with the Joneses, hell I usually don't even know the Jones' exist let alone care what they have or want to out do them. I usually do not care what anyone else is doing or how they are acting if they arent a close part of my life, but something about menopause or age or whatever has got me all of a sudden(and getting worse by the month) making snap unfounded or biased judgements. No reason. No knowledge of a person. Just general stupid stereotyping, prejudices and assumptions that jump into my head that did not exist in me before. Without stereotyping, I can name names, I have seen all my life, the crotchety closed minded jumping to conclusions and biases of the elderly and always figured it was a reflection on their life experiences, even when it didnt seem so, but now....im not so sure. I think we really do have those hidden subconscious memory banks of unsociable and incorrectly perceived "young child" assumptions on how and why things are, that linger in the back of the brain and only come out once we stop having a focus on how are social, especially work selves need to be seen. I'm hoping that I can now hit these flash-ins of wtf,, who was that biased bitch? head on and paddle her immature ass with a laugh and a reality check cuz if not, I'll end up in a river or with my mouth sewn shut by the time I'm 55. Yeah, there are people who admit to being not as right as they pretend or wish to be, and for that I am very very grateful. Not t be confused with me NOT wanting to be a cranky old biddy cuz Im awaiting that gleefully. I just don't want to be a biased or bigoted one except for age.
