Poetry in song: Emotion in motion Day 2 of 30 April is national poetry month in the USA(and the galaxy so I'm told) and while I follow along with my local library's daily selections, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing my picks for songs that I consider pure poetry. **SEE POST IN COMMENTS** Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black. ~~ 'My place amongst the stars' c/o former member SPB ~~ |

We all have them don't we? Those poems or songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling good, bad, silly, serious, happy or sad! She walks into Smokey's one hip at a time Like a broken field runner slippin' through the line He likes the way she looks so he calls the little wife says "Don't wait up for me I'll be workin' late tonight" Wife hangs up the phone, bursts into tears Calls her sister up and cries "Get over here" Sister tells her boyfriend be back in awhile Boyfriend wants a beer, the store is just a mile He leaves the motor running he'll only be a minute His car drives away with teenagers in it The driver tells his buddies, got one life to live They scream into the night "Let's get it over with" [CHORUS] 'Cause and effect, chain of events All of the chaos makes perfect sense When you're spinning round, things come undone Welcome to Earth 3rd rock from the Sun The kid guns the gas, the car starts to swerve Heads for a semi truck, jumps the curb Truck hits a Big Boy in the Shoney's parking lot And flies through the air takes out the bank clock Clock strikes a light pole, transformer sparks Lines go down, town goes dark Waitress calls the cops, says she saw it all Swears a giant alien has landed at the mall Cops ring up the mayor says there's panic in the streets hate to wake you up but we can't find the chief Mayor says "Use your head if he ain't in his car He's hiding from his wife, down at Smokey's Bar" 'Cause and effect, chain of events All of the chaos makes perfect sense When you're spinning round, things come undone Welcome to Earth 3rd rock from the Sun (x2) Joe Diffie 'Third Rock From The Sun' And so goes the thoughtless self-serving chain of event craziness at the speed of life, be it melodrama or virus. R.I.P Joe Diffie - a beloved singer from my early 90's country phase was a cov19 casualty this week. This isn't my favorite song of his, that's a tie between John Deere Green and Pick Up Man, but it's too appropriate not to use. Here's the video link if you'd like to see it in motion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlAa0IGCXCw Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. This is our fork in the road Love's last episode There's nowhere to go, oh no You made your choice Now it's up to me To bow out gracefully Though you hold the key, but baby Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Whenever you need me, I'll be there I'll be around I knew just what to say Now I found out today That all the words had slipped away, but I know There's always a chance A tiny spark will remain, yeah And sparks turn into flames And love can burn once again, but I know you know Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Whenever you need me, I'll be there I'll be around, yeah Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Even if I have to crawl, I'll be there I'll be around Just call me on the phone, I'll be there I'll never leave you alone, I'll be there Just call out your name, I know I know you know I'll be around I'll be skipping and jumping, I'll be there I'll be a-rippin' it up, I'll be there I'll be calling out your name to let you know I'll be around "I'll Be Around".....The Spinners This will make me roll the window down in the car and just sing like I had a voice.

The sounds of planes have gone. And the distant road is now silent But the encompassing blue sky remains It spreads out amongst the forest and plains Now silence is the word of the day Except for the Cackle of chooks and The odd horses bray Eager brooks still chuckle Under bridges and through pipes they buckle as they wend along their way meandering and on display to show that the movement of time is steady and sublime In this part of the woods anyway rarely is there ice as here the weather is nice! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love it! You know Im curious how this rash of human excess tempering is affecting the planet and world. Are we learning anything by this pandemic which could also be a huge learning moment of the non medical variety Is the pollution less as it should be since planes, truck are cars use is so drastically reduced? Are the people sitting at home realizing that they are gross over consumers and need only a fraction of what they buy to survive hopefully reducing over consumerism and showoff greed in the near future? Are neighbors checking on those alone just to be kind? I dunno, but your blue skies always make me smile. Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. A lot of the same old is troubling and you know I worry about the damage we as a species continually do to the world around us, so I am curious to know what if any positives to the earth are happening right now. I know its temporary and wont even come close to negating the mess we've made but if by some chance us being caged saves the home the cage is on, even if only for a brief extension, then I'm glad. A 10 yr chronology? That's very cool. I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere on google the hurley-whirley god-us of all things. I am so NOT calling you Timemeaster Tardis, so you can forget that right now Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
