Poetry in motion Day 3 of 30

April is national poetry month in the USA and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing my picks for songs that I consider pure poetry.

**SEE POST IN COMMENT SECTION**

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

April is national poetry month in the USA and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing my picks for songs that I consider pure poetry.

We all have them don't we? Those poems or songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling!

Emotion in motion is a funny thing. It can be sweet or sad, touching or mind numbing, quiet and gently stirring and there are THOSE.

The ones that no matter where you are or what you're doing when you hear it, make you grin and think either FUCK YOU! or Fuck Yeah!

This is absolutely one of those

I was always the crazy one,
who broke into the stadium
and I wrote your number
on the fifty yard line.

You were always the perfect one
and a valedictorian,
so under your number I wrote
'Call for a good time'.

I only wanted to get your attention
but you over looked me somehow
Besides you had too many boyfriends to mention
and I played my guitar too loud.

How do you like me now?!

How do you like me now
Now that I'm on my way
Do you still think I'm crazy standing here today
I couldn't make you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How do you like me now?!

When I took off to Tennessee
I heard that you made fun of me
never imagined I'd make it this far.

Then you married into the money girl
ain't it a cruel and funny world
he took your dreams and he tore them apart.

He never comes home and your always alone
and your kids hear you cry down the hall.
Alarm clock starts ringin' who could that be singin'
It's me baby with your wake up call!

How do you like me now?!

How do you like me now
Now that I'm on my way
Do you still think I'm crazy standing here today
I couldn't make you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How do you like me now?!
(x2)

Tell Me Baby!

I will preach on!

Toby Keith "How do you like me now?"

If you've been swept away or can help sweep me away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. I've got about 10 on deck off the top of my head but '30 days hath Sept, April, June and.......' so all help is appreciated.

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.

I am sure there are many real life sad stories like this....

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw

I Feel the Earth Move
Carole King, James Taylor

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around
Ooh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around
Oh, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get hot and cold, all over, all over, all over, all over
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, a'tumbling down,
A'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, a'tumbling down, tumbling down!
Songwriters: CAROLE KING

This song reminds me of her...….I did this at karaoke one night......no one booed so I considered that a plus

Im sure you're very right. While the nusic itself is upbeat and playful the lyrics can cover a lot of different variations on a theme.

A boo free night is what we all hope for. Yay you for doing a bootiful job at a great song.

This is a classic for sure. They're both such amazing song writers, music and lyrics!
