Poetry in motion Day 7 of 30 April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were. **POST IN COMMENTS DUE TO POOR SITE FEATURE MAINTENANCE** Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black. ~~ 'My place amongst the stars' c/o former member SPB ~~ |

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling! This beautifully done emotion in motion is a song I'd never heard of before it was requested by a fellow blogger. I can only say thank you for sharing, participating and turning me on to such a lovely soulful song. Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river You can hear the boats go by, you can spend the night beside her And you know that she's half-crazy but that's why you want to be there And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China And just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give her Then he gets you on her wavelength And she lets the river answer that you've always been her lover And you want to travel with her, and you want to travel blind And you know that she will trust you For you've touched her perfect body with your mind And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower And when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them But he himself was broken, long before the sky would open Forsaken, almost human, he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone And you want to travel with him, and you want to travel blind And you think maybe you'll trust him For he's touched your perfect body with her mind Now, Suzanne takes your hand and she leads you to the river She is wearing rags and feathers from Salvation Army counters And the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbor And she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers There are heroes in the seaweed, there are children in the morning They are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever While Suzanne holds her mirror And you want to travel with her, and you want to travel blind And you know you can trust her For she's touched your perfect body with her mind Leonard Cohen "Suzanne" If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put to music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. Thank you so much all who have offered suggestions & shared their selections, it is greatly appreciated. Cohen has many intriguing, stirring classics that get the mind working as well as the heart. Clapton is known as THE guitar God no doubt but as amazing as some of his lyrics are its his music that blows me away far more than the words. He was quite the lyrically whiney bastard in his youth. My teenage self appreciated that. Luminous shrooms are an exemplary exception of nature. Around here though, I dont mix up the words 'drinking' with anything golden. I was thinking of bitters last week. Ive only had them once, just to try them. I was not impressed. Granted I had them on beer which is bitter enough on its own and not their intended drink. I think I'll keep them at arms length anyway. I already have a predilection toward bitter veggies as my faves. Wait! Look, Im still trying to reconcile white hair on crab claws, so ingesting hair of any color for any reason is a hard NO. What websites are you reading that says eating hair balances guts or blood pressure? Report them. Immediately! CHooCHoo. All crazy trains seem to be in use currently, but Im sure there are plenty of unused tunnels somewhere.
