Poetry in motion Day 9 of 30

April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were.

**POST IN COMMENTS DUE POOR SITE FEATURE MAINTENANCE**

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling!

It can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce and loud. The feeling that is, though often the music matches the lyrics especially when the same writer does the music and lyrics. I often wonder who or what is the reason behind their poetry, their emotion in motion.

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
"Go to sleep. Everything is all right."

I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night, I softly say
A silent prayer like dreamers do
Then I fall asleep to dreams, my dreams of you

In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you
In dreams you're mine, all of the time
We're together in dreams, in dreams

But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone
I can't help it, I can't help it, if I cry
I remember that you said goodbye

It's too bad that all these things
Can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams, in beautiful dreams

Roy Orbison "In Dreams"

If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put to music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. Thank you so much all who have offered suggestions & shared their selections. It is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.

This is a GREAT song and I often listen to it on my runs

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw

One of my all time favorites.....

Secret Agent Man
Johnny Rivers

There's a man who leads a life of danger
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger
With every move he makes another chance he takes
Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number, I know they've take away your name

Beware of pretty faces that you find
A pretty face can hide an evil mind
Ah, be careful what you say
Or you'll give yourself away
Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number, I know they've take away your name
Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number, oh they've taken away your name

Swingin' on the Riviera one day
And then layin' in the Bombay alley next day
Oh, don't you let you let the wrong word slip
While kissing persuasive lips
Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number, oh they've take away your name
Secret agent man

Yes!

I like it a lot too and it is damn good booty shakin music. I was just singing this the other day when the wild child mentioned Liberty Valance. No clue why I associate one with the other but I do.

Another poetic one! I love his creamy voice crooning his story.
