Poetry in motion Day 10 of 30 April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were. **POST IN COMMENTS DUE POOR SITE FEATURE MAINTENANCE** Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black. ~~ 'My place amongst the stars' c/o former member SPB ~~ |

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling! They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce and loud. They can say nothing or everything, support or reject a belief, celebrate a life. Or a death. Apologies in advance to non christian friends and readers but for me, a woefully inadequate and mostly non practicing cradle catholic, it's Good Friday, one of the few christian remembrance days I do keep. Millennia have passed and still the battle of human self service and destruction rages on. These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be. Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms Through these fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battle raged high And though they did hurt me so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones Now the suns gone to hell And the moons riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But its written in the starlight And every line on your palm Were fools to make war On our brothers in arms Mark Knopfler & Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put to music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. Thank you so much all who have offered suggestions & shared their selections. It is greatly appreciated. Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. cuzi This is another wonderful moving song! Joan Baez has a very powerful rendition of it.... A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

Meh, theres always something to wonder about, worry about or forget about. AS long as we ramble on and enjoy the scenery without taking more than we give, its all just a whole lot of 'sit back and enjoy the ride, just dont fill up on jalapeno cheese and papaya and you'll have a good journey.
