Poetry in motion Day 13 of 30

April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were.

If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put to music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well.

Special thanks to drmgirl622, 4Faksake, jenny14, mockyloks & tsarah, who have offered suggestions or shared their selections.....It is greatly appreciated!

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling!

They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce and loud. They can say nothing & everything, support or reject a belief, celebrate a life or honor a death. Mostly they just seem to help us move through life sharing a lesson or at the very least a distraction. I think both are very good things.

I'm gonna make a change,
For once I'm my life
It's gonna feel real good,
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right.

As I, turn up the collar on
My favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets,
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind,
Pretending not to see their needs?

A summer disregard, a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

[CHORUS]I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

[CHORUS] X3

You can't close your, your mind!
(Then you close your, mind!), With the man in the mirror

Just lift yourself
You know
You've got to stop it,
Yourself!

You've got to move! Come on!
Come on!
You got to
Stand up! Stand up! Stand up!
(Yeah! Make that change)
Stand up and lift yourself, now!
Come on!
You know it!
You know it!
You know (Change)

Make that change.

Michael Jackson "Man In The Mirror" Many HOO, WOOs and line repeats removed from chorus recap

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

This is truly inspirational

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw

The Leader by Roger McGough seems appropriate right now in so many ways.

Did you see Andrea Bocelli at Duomo Cathedral in Milan......makes one very humble

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come.

'Tis Grace hath brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His Word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

Thank you for saying so, Jenny. It is one of my favorites and something I hope I can follow through with for the rest of my days.

Isnt that the truth? That was a short but sweet poem and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing it!

NO! I hadn't even heard about it, so thank you so much for letting me know. It is loading now.

As good as he is, the song wins. Every time. It is a truly amazing piece of work!
