Poetry in motion Day 14 of 30

April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were.

If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put to music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well.

Special thanks to drmgirl622, 4Faksake, jenny14, mockyloks & tsarah, who have offered suggestions or shared their selections.....It is greatly appreciated!

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling!

They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce and loud. And sometimes....they just make you fucking HOT!

I look at you and my blood boils hot,
I feel my temperature rise
I want it all, give me what you got,
there's hunger in your eyes.

I'm getting closer, baby hear me breathe
(pants) hua,hua,hua
You know the way to give me what I need
Just let me love you and you'll never leave

Feel my heat takin' you higher,
burn with me, Heaven's on fire
Paint the sky with desire, angel fly,
Heaven's on fire

I got a fever ragin' in my heart,
you make me shiver and shake
Baby don't stop, take it to the top,
eat it like a piece of cake

You're comin' closer, I can hear you breathe
You drive me crazy when you start to tease
You could bring the devil to his knees

Feel my heat takin' you higher, burn with me, Heaven's on fire
Paint the sky with desire, angel fly, Heaven's on fire

Oho Heaven's on fire, oho Heaven's on fire, oho

I'm getting closer, baby hear me breathe
You know the way to give me what I need
Just let me love you and you'll never leave
Feel my heat takin' you higher, burn with me, Heaven's on fire
Paint the sky with desire, angel fly, Heaven's on fire

Kiss "Heaven's On Fire"

King of the Road
Boxcar Willie, Roger Miller

Trailer for sale or rent, rooms to let fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets, I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah but two hours of pushin' broom
Buys a eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road

Third boxcar midnight train, destination Bangor, Maine
Old worn out suit and shoes, I don't pay no union dues
I smoke old stogies I have found
Short but not too big around
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road

I know every engineer on every train
All of their children and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked when no-one's around
I sing

No phone, no pool, no pets, I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah but two hours of pushin' broom
Buys a eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road

An oldie but one to get your toes tappin'

It is definitely a racy little song.

Oh, NICE! That is such a great poem. The image the title alone inspires is breathtaking each and every time I read it.

Another good one. It is a whistling, toe tapping sing it out loud classic for sure!
