Poetry in motion Day 19 of 30 April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were. If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. Special thanks drmgirl622, 4Faksake, jenny, mockyloks & tsarah, who have offered suggestions or shared their selections.....It is greatly appreciated! **POST IN COMMENTS DUE POOR SITE FEATURE MAINTENANCE** Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black. ~~ 'My place amongst the stars' c/o former member SPB ~~ |

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling! They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce, fucked up or loud. They are time machines that can freeze you where you stand, carry you back in time or move you forward one beat at a time. For me, this one does exactly that. Mystery surrounds me, and I wonder where I'm going There's a cloud above me and it seems to hide the way I'm going straight ahead, 'cause it's the only way I know I want to leave the past, and live just for today [CHORUS] Now then tell me baby, do you need my love? Tell me baby, are you thinking of me? Tell me baby, what it is you need? What kind of satisfaction guaranteed? Sitting in the gutter with my head wrapped in my hands I've been drinking all night, and I just can't stand the pain It took an awful lot of trouble just to make me understand Now it's clear to me, but will it ever be the same? [CHORUS](X2) Head upon the highway, just as fast as I could go I rode through the night, and halfway through the day I had no direction I didn't even want to know where I was going The only thing I knew, was that I had to get away [CHORUS] Tell me baby, tell me baby, tell me baby, do you need my love? Now that I'm here, yeah, do you need, do you need my love? The Firm "Satisfaction Guaranteed" Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. cuzi This sounds like some-one very much in pain The music of the song isn't downbeat at all, though maybe a bit frustrated, so I always see it as longing maybe, but positive. Just goes to show how we all see and hear something different in songs to the horror and frustration of so many songwriters. Men and their gypsy feet are why leg irons haven't went out of style. Us ladies should just let y'all wander until you fall off the edge of the flat earth, 'cept ya know, lol we tend to wonder as we wander too. Thank you, sweetie. You put the twinkle in my eye Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
