Poetry in motion Day 20 April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were. If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. Special thanks drmgirl622, 4Faksake, jenny, mockyloks & tsarah, who have offered suggestions or shared their selections.....It is greatly appreciated! **POST IN COMMENTS DUE POOR SITE FEATURE MAINTENANCE** Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black. ~~ 'My place amongst the stars' c/o former member SPB ~~ |

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling! They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring or fierce, fucked up or loud. And some....... ....... you sing even if you can't understand them. A few days back, Jenny14 suggested a song she liked, but I couldn't find an English version to post of lyrics or even a song video link so I've struggled to find a way to meet the request. Until today. Enter 420, the day of celebration for 'high-life' lovers and I figured....PERFECT! Fuck, if I was high, I probably wouldn't be reading or singing the lyrics right anyway! I cant promise my interpretation is correct being 420 and all but I think it's a love song. It must be, because Im pretty sure it starts with the words.......goin 't marry godzilla. May the love and buzz be with you! Guantanamera, guajira guantanamera Guantanamera, guajira guantanamera Yo soy un hombre sincero De don de crece la palma Yo soy un hombre sincero De don de crece la palma Antes des morirme quiero Echar mis versos del alma Guantanamera, guajira, guantanamera Guantanamera, guajira guantanamera Mi verso es de un verde claro Y de un carmín encendido Mi verso es de un verde claro Y de un carmín encendido Mi verso es un querido cielo Que busca en el monte amparo Guantanamera, guajira, guantanamera Guantanamera, guajira, guantanamera Peter Seeger "Guantanamera" **like many songs, the well known singers of the songs are not the writers. I generally post the singers for ease of finding and familiarity. This one was based on a poem so had several writers including Pete who is Jenny preferred singer of the song. Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. The Rose ~~~ Bette Midler Some say love, it is a river That drowns the tender reed Some say love, it is a razor That leaves your soul to bleed Some say love, it is a hunger An endless aching need I say love, it is a flower And you its only seed It's the heart afraid of breaking That never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of waking That never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken Who cannot seem to give And the soul afraid of dyin' That never learns to live When the night has been too lonely And the road has been too long And you think that love is only For the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter Far beneath the bitter snows Lies the seed that with the sun's love In the spring becomes the rose A song that reaches deep inside.....

cuzi Thank you for posting this Jose Marti was the original author and it is worth looking him up ! He was an extraordinary person! xx I did check out the original poem(after using google translator) while trying to figure out a way to present the song and liked it even better than the modified song. Good call, honey! Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached. You do love your Madonna, sweetie. I blame your seeking this nutsy video but gorgeous song on the recent madonnagates scandal. Well, I find it scandalous anyway! This is wonderful thank you for sharing it with me. You are right, there are many beautiful spanish songs and I do love the (I guess flamenco style?) guitar sound. One of the most beautiful songs Ive ever heard is Joan Baez version of llego con tres heridas Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character. Bubbles and bolts smh Absolutely vaccine development needs to continue. How else can we possibly ignore getting it like we do all the other recommended vaccines?!
