Poetry in motion Day 21 April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were. If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well. We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling! They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring, fierce, hell no, fuck yeah, or fucked up and loud. Oh don't you dare look back, Just keep your eyes on me, I said you're holding back. She said shut up and dance with me! This woman is my destiny She said ooo-ooo-oo Shut up and dance with me! Finding Joan's version once the internet boomed was quite the shock. I had only heard it once in a tv movie called Choices of the Heart and hummed it for 20+ years never knowing its name or meaning which not surprisingly fit the scene well. Oh sweetie, that's a bit too much for me to follow, all that fancy finger work of yours in the middle, but I do love music on the violin. A really good instrument and a good player can definitely transcend. Even the best or worst of gails. Love is blue? Oh man, I love the tinkly bell sound of the popular version but damn, you are so spot on with the other suggestions! Cannnon in D is gorgeous too. I haven't been to a wedding in 20 years where that hasn't been played as part of the processional but my favorite version is by Trans-siberian Orchestra.Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
