Unknown Legend

People come and go.

The majority I barely notice. Too much horseshit and you start to no longer notice the smell, ya just avoid the steaming fresh piles as ya pass by.

Some, a rare few.....yeah, they manage to crawl inside.

Some things, I know almost from the beginning, will stay with me for a very, very long time.

I yanked this off a friends F.O. blog before he imploded the entire thing.

A few have seen it most have not.

The title here is mine. My favorite Neil Young song as a matter of fact and it describes him and this post perfectly.

All of the rest of this is him............

I saw her saddle up inside the room. There she was.
In her eyes she had me and I didn't care.

Like a Niel Young riff, slow and deliberate with purpose, yet effortlessly she moves.

Eying each other warily like two mongooses on the prowl amid all the unknowing grass snakes. Sizing each other up mentally.

One more beer I told myself.

She crept and wormed her way into the crevices of my mind like a perfect neurological virus.
Potent, viral and all business to those who knew what it was.

I wasn't ready for the coming dawn and the long drive on the highway with those quiet moments interrupted only by the rush of the wind and the hum of the engine.

Yes, my wheels were spinning, but it wasn't over yet. I sailed with the outgoing tides on the morrow.

Dammit! She saw me and caught me looking. I played it off, but we both knew nobody else in the room mattered or was even a challenge.

Shinning in my mind like the flash of a knife in the sun, her eyes called to me. I swear she had amber gold hued eyes, like the sweetest drops of sun kissed honey.

How many others before me had she clasped by the spine of the neck with her seductive reserved ways? I am still boxing her all over my head.

It's a new thing I said to myself but much the same. Mile after mile on the highway of women and pain.

She got me hungry and it was hard to fight off the thirst. Beer helped, but the air conditioned room still felt a million degrees kelvin.

Certain movements I cued in on about her body language, stuff others dismissed or just couldn't see. It was the devil for sure in the details.

It's alright, I was armed with my own precautions and false bravado imbued with the courage of alcohol.

Keen and sharp not fuzzy and dizzy. Clarity rang out like a shot in a tunnel, bouncing around in my head.

This women could easily wreck a lesser man and those she wrecked wouldn't understand what they had their hands on until she had consumed them screaming, whole and alive.

It wasn't her nature, more akin to a reflex of her personality and body to reject the organ transplant of their hearts.

I had my own convictions and combat kisses, but this one would be a mark. Two predators on the battle field of wills and hopes.

I know what you're thinking and it might be true, but these were my boots to wear and I'd see it through.

The bugs still circled around the lantern that night, as it swayed just right.

I wasn't lost in the blur of the horizon, rather I lived in the mirage of the heat wafting up to mix with the orange golden hues of the setting sun.

Somewhere over there, out on the skyline of the highway
.
Shaking the giant snow-globe of life, swirling it around as each soul caught my eye with the glint and sparkle of the setting sun.

Circling above her recessed and tucked away hidden room, watching her inside. Full of mirrors and she knew it, just as we all do.

She could never be what they wanted her to be, she wasn't wired that way. Forged on the crucible of interactions with dreamers.

It was stark and plain to see, that's what got her when her eyes met me.

Yes one more beer very soon.

I had seen this women before in the eyes from my past. Her soul bounced from body to body in my travels abroad and somehow I could sense it was her all the time.

In the dance floors of Hong Kong. In the small cafes of Italy. Downtown walking around in Tokyo or just buying groceries at the local farmers market on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

I wasn't sure but somehow my eyes belied me and I could feel her presence again.

Confirmation of my thoughts always came when our eyes locked and I could see who she really was inside her skin with her soul exposed and naked for me to inhale.

That's what confused her about my perceptions, my ability to see past her walls like a trespassing intruder. I meant no harm and could not throttle back, it was all natural to me.

For if I asked permission the walls of denial and defense would spring into action, but I would still know and see what others only imagined she could be.

I dusted off my jacket and braced for the road.
No lap to slobber at her toes, she would miss the presence of my mind.

Slowly approaching in the dawn, no walls nor masks, it was plain to see what she was in her tasks.

Another time or another town along the road.

It's a near miss, always is but the same.

The endless circle and game.

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

They always do, that is why I don't take names or numbers...They are either never where they are supposed to be or I just plain ol' forget.

I agree - among the many, a few really can make an impression upon us!

You're welcome, hon.

Memories, be they real or just ideal, are often the fuel we use to power us through the day until tomorrow comes with its hope of making new memories.

It is one of the high points around here, isn't it?

Those good writers who just kinda creep in and hunker down somewhere inside us.

If this one ever finds a way to combine body, heart and soul, he'll be close to unmatchable.

Thank you for piping up and saying so. I'm glad you enjoyed this sliver of him as much as I do.

Ah, your sharing is my pleasure sweetie. You are my favorite pain in the ass you know.

Do the ladies know you went out of your way to thank them again? Just in case, I'll pass the word along.

You fit my tastes, so yes, I will selfishly enjoy you as much as I can. Your subtle non sarcastic and genuine sense of quirky humor is a huge strength that I hope you start to explore.

Let me clarify. Use it!

It doesnt have the dramatic emotional punch that is your comfort zone, but it has a purity of spirit and radiance that few can match and seriously, tell me what emotional price you can put on joy and laughter. Balance baby. You've got the gift and the guts, dont tamp down one for the other. Why choose? On allows you to run. The other lets you fly

Oj yeah and..line breaks are our friends I know I know...phone.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that you think so, B.

He didn't write it for or about me, but he got so much of it right, he might as well have. That's probably why I kick it around my head on an almost daily basis.

Such a mr smarty pants you are.

Don't you have the original saved somewhere?

Poke fun at me(and you) all you wish, it is still one of the most brilliant things I've seen written here. And yep, my very bruised ego did it's own share of talking. Spackling as it were.

How good am I? Reading my opening it astounds me how rational I sounded in type, considering I felt like every part of my body was being broken.

Yay me?!

Yay you!!

Do you still love it as much as I do? I hope so.

Tis true, I did have the handwritten original as my pc wall paper up until the big crash.

My Grandmother had died the day before and I couldnt imagine anything causing more grief at that time until, per usual, the universe stepped in immediately to prove just how wrong I could be.

I'd be most grateful if you'd reconsider sending me a photo copy of the handwritten one.

In a weird twist, I still have the type/text version in an email reply here which is weird for a closed act, so I choose to believe that means something special when even alt can't fuck it up.

The cloud exists, google offers it to me daily, but how or why Id want it I dont know so I have avoided it thus far. Im in deep shit if yahoos servers ever die though, as the amount of things I have saved in email form is scary.

So far, luckily, only 1 thing has disappeared from that and I cant figure out where it went or why but Im sure it was a user error. I should really take library classes on computer basics or something.
