Second shot --- I didn't actually lie. As I reported in my last post, I did feel fine hours after my second covid shot. Unfortunately, the next twenty hours were a microcosm of hell. I didn't actually want to die, but I was far from caring. lol From my experience, I suppose your reaction to the second shot depends on what physical limitations you customarily deal with. I don't get headaches, and while headaches are common reactions to the second shot, I didn't experience any. I do have problems with joint and muscle pain, and I got those in spades. I have had infrequent balance issues, which I thought I had successfully conquered. Those showed up in spades as well. I was fastening on to every piece of furniture and doorknob between my bed and the bathroom to keep from falling to the floor. Not having to crawl was a small triumph. Aside from my three trips to the bathroom, I stayed in bed, dreaming in my few lucid moments about things I haven't thought about in ages and at the moment can't recall. So, for those of you who experienced no ill effects from the second shot, my heartiest congratulations. I actually went out for my customary 2-mile quick-march shortly after getting the shot, which in retrospect may have been an unnecessary display of hubris. My hip joints started complaining after the first mile. For those who haven't had your second shot yet. I recommend you not plan any activities for the succeeding 48hours. You may not be in any condition to cancel them. I missed a zoom conference call the next day and couldn't have cared less. I'm looking out my window at the bright sunshine and am still hesitant about trying another 2-miler, but I think i'll do it anyhow. Science wants to know. |

I just received my first shot yesterday and all I have so far is a sore arm. Others have told me the second one will kick your ass if you have vulnerable body parts. Like you, the joints are not as they used to be. This comes from too many 'hold my beer, watch this' episodes in my youth I suppose.

Yesterday I congratulated you on your 2nd shot, I said I had my first & that my arm wasn't as sore as when I had my flu shot, no other problems. Yeah, well I spoke too soon as well, although my problems weren't as bad as yours. I just had symptems like I was going down with flu. Still as you say what's little discomfort now, compared with the benifits in the future. Just think of all those divisions of antibodies being trained up for battle, if they are needed. Regiments of killer 'T' cells, strapping on their boots & sharpening their bayonets.

I was very fortunate....a very sore arm but I was relatively unscathed. My Dad's wife had issues similar to yours but she had the Pfizer whereas I had Moderna. I don't know if that makes a difference but delaying any vaccine over side effects doesn't make any sense.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, none of this will happen in my case

I had no side effects from my vaccines. My son the MD also told me to plan on a day in bed after my second shot, so I had a nice day off.

Regardless of this limited unpleasantness, it is far better to get the shot than to risk the alternative. The choice is not even remotely close. Stay safe out there folks. Help is on the way.
