Well, it finally happened!!! We have lost our gold membership here on alt. Not sure it's worth renewing as it's beginning to become a ghost town here as so many others have lost there's in the past month or so that it was only time. Profile views down, picture views down, video views down and, of course, the blog views are down. It seemed that for a new video we would easily get 1000 views in a day, now it takes a few weeks or months to get that many, and I have to say some of them are pretty good. Blog views same thing. Where a new post would get over 1000 views within a week, now maybe 100 views on it with everything being original content and real pictures, no downloaded internet pictures like so many have. With over 250 followers it seems like many just aren't logging in and coming back. As for web camming, that has also taken a serious dive. 6-7 years ago we would webcam a session and easily have 300 people watching which was a huge turn on. Then alt was put up for sale and sold and things took a nose dive. The cam's may work some times, but more often not. When we were able to get it started maybe 10 people would be watching. We tried camming a couple of weeks ago and it took over half an hour to get connected and the maximum number people I saw watching was 11. This was on a Saturday evening! When we do want to watch someone on video if we are lucky enough to open their cam it freezes almost immediately. But more times than not we get to see that wonderful shark swimming around the tank. And finally there's Instant Messaging, or should it be called good luck messenging? IM is another tool that took a huge dive. Once again, there used to be over 3,000 people on it, last night we logged in and there were 700 total. We got through the people who were up to 300 miles near us within two pages. Once again it was early evening so not like we were on at 4AM. It seems like we have to try opening the IM window multiple times and that is after turning that new damn button on the main page to online first, and then to keep checking it to make sure it's still on. Then once you see someone you want to chat with and message them, there is no guarantee that it will go through and have to log in multiple times. There was a female sub I wanted to chat with and the system kept crashing and having to open IM over and over. She was as persistent as I was, and somehow she got a message to me that had another messaging ID and we got in touch that way. But it seems most pages just don't go through. We've been on Alt for 10 years now and it is just a former shell of itself. We hang on as there are some that we have watched or followed for years but it may be time to pull the plug soon. We did it once when it wasn't as bad and came back, but now not sure. Just seems like everyone has left because of some poor decisions by management.      Ms. Jay bleash; |

The glory days are gone; gold has turned to dross. The good guys are shaking the dust from their feet and heading for pastures new and even the scammers are having trouble! Most of the blogs tend to be gripes about how crappy the site has become. Heck, even Vlad has given up! I do hope you stay around but can't blame you if you decide it's a waste of time.

yup .. they should encourage all kinds - even free members, and then sell ad space like every other sane business on the web ... not rocket science, if they wanted to, it seems ..

In the past, standard members could chat with people on cam. Now, they can only watch. I, for one, like to get comments and requests when I'm broadcasting. And I like to send my comments while watching other people's cams or, at least, follow the conversations. Now only paying members are able to message cammers, so the number of watchers is supposed to be small.

I have been using this site for about 15 years, and the last 5 years were free gold, but it's not worth paying for the poor service the site provides these days. I used to log in 2 or 3 times a day, but now it's more like once a week. I will miss your blog, possibly the best on alt. I use fetlife a lot, you can get an amazing number of features for free (which you would have to pay for here), although there are the still the usual bunch of fakes as well. What ever you decide to do, thanks for your fantastic blog and best wishes for the future. x

Yes, this site has gone downhill. It's almost as though they are waiting for it to die off. Fetlife is a good site, although it does have some drawbacks. I am hoping that the management here comes to there senses soon.

Ms Jay.... indeed, since the gratis gold memberships were withdrawn numbers on the site have diminished significantly. The price of a gold membership is quite high, moreso as it needs paying in one lump sum. With fewer numbers and less reliable links, same applies. i remain a member and will check in, but my visits have reduced. Wish you both well.

I understand the people running the site wanting to make money. They really need to improve the product if they want people to stay.

What Alt doesn't seem to realize is that for all of us that have lost our "earned" gold memberships, there is absolutely no point in paying for a gold membership now because we still wouldn't be able to communicate with our standard member friends unless everyone paid.... No chance of that.... So the era is unfortunately over and Alt will soon die as we all gradually leave looking for new pastures.......

Agreed I was a member years ago and let it drop...think about dropping again Have not had much luck before and even less at this point
