Music

I am not a TV watcher, I never have been. I can't understand why someone would want sit there watching others live their lives while their own life passes them . I stopped watching TV sometime in the late 70s. As of late I have watched a few exceptional shows like Game of Thrones, but I binge watch them like they are a long movie and then don't watch anything a year.

When I am home the TV is rarely, if ever on, but music is always playing. I have very eclectic taste, listening everything except and country. Now there are some older country songs I can listen , Stuff Garth Brooks, Dwight Yokem, a Brooks and Dunn. But new country is nauseating, it is nothing but canned, packaged, processed, plastic patriotism with a Southern twang. Song writing teams in Nashville churn out songs are designed appeal easily manipulated dolts. They use key words and catch phrases; pickup truck, dirt road, small town, alcohol, blue jeans, grandma, etc. And the beat is so similar on each song you can mix them together and you can't tell where song ends and the other begins. In fact, someone did just . They took the top country songs of a certain year (any year) and "mashed" them up, and it sounds like one song. No wonder rednecks beat their wives and molest their daughters, the music drives them insane.

And talk about driving people insane, Music. The repetitive beat and the lyrics , the most part, are nothing but some rhyming about how rich and tough he is and how much pussy he gets. I have heard a few or hip hop songs I like, US3's Cantaloop (flip fantasia), but is more Trip Hop (jazz and hip hop mixed). But the most part being somewhere where they have music playing just makes me nervous and uncomfortable.

And it seems the people listen either of those genres pretty much listen nothing else. There is so much great music there I don't understand why someone would limit themselves particular genre. Doing so makes them a very dimensional person, and dimensional people are not very interesting once their newness wears off.

What I do like is, rock, jazz, world beat, Latin, new age, classical, gothic rock, acid rock, hard rock, blues and metal.

I listen more jazz, Latin and new age now than just about anything else, although I have have daily fix of Tool and Dead Can Dance ( I could binge listen DCD weeks at a time) .

My all time favorite Jazz album is Kind of Blue, 59, Miles Davis. No other jazz album or artist can touch it. But a new young trumpet player, Matthew Halsall comes damn close. In fact the first time I heard him I thought it was some lost Miles Davis track I had never heard.

Spanish Guitar speaks to me in a way no other music can. My love it began with Carlos Santana and has grown exponentially every since I first heard it. Armik is a truly amazing guitar player, Isla del Sol tugs at my heart strings with each pluck of the guitar string. Jesse Cook is a guitar god, and his live performances are spectacular. I use his music in BDSM scenes quite often, whipping a woman the tune "Closer Madness" is truly exhilarating. It starts off slowly then builds a crescendo.

I wasn't much on 90's rock, but Tool is something special. It is perfect scenes where sadomasochism is the main focus. The music is dark, bizarre, depraved and bordering on insanity. The Gothic rock band Dead Can Dance fits description very well too. It can set a very dark mood some very intense scenes.

There are some bands defy genre labels, Enigma is of them. Have you ever ate mushrooms at night and played enigma on a good stereo? OMG!! you will have an of body experience. Erotic Dreams is another band like . Now most people think Erotic Dreams is the of an Enigma album, but it is not. It was taken off my hard drive some Chinese bootleggers during the Napster days and I had it in the folder as Enigma, so the bootleggers thought it was Enigma and put a bootleg Enigma album called Erotic dreams. But the truth is it is a Dutch band named Erotic Dreams and their album was called Temple of Love. Give it a listen sometime, you will fall in love with it.

Nothing can ever touch the years 68 through 78 when it comes to rock and roll. So many amazing albums were created during ten years span. Bands like Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Kansas, Boston, Fleetwood Mac, CSN&Y, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, Queen, Santana, Black Sabbath etc etc etc. I could go on forever with naming bands put music literally changed the world. No other music held its popularity with generation after generation like classic did. My top rock albums are Led Zeppelins first album( nothing else needs be said about this ), Black Sabbaths first album (nothing in 69 was anywhere near the darkness of this album, it puts me in a very evil mood, and I love it), Fleetwood Macs Rumors (again, nuff said), Kansas Left Overture (what a Masterpiece, they had such a unique sound and style, Boston's first album (some day I will tell you a story about the first time I ever heard it, Golden Earrings Moontan (if you never listened to the whole album before, do so immediately, Radar Love is probably the worst track on there if tells you anything about how good this album is. But, you have to listen to the US release which they were wise enough to put Big Tree Blue Sea on. Rarely do I agree with record producers changing tracks on an album but in this case it created a masterpiece of psychedelic rock. The Dutch release had two songs literally destroyed the continuity of the album), Santana Abraxas ( Carlos is a GOD), Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (with each album their sound evolved it reached its pinnacle in Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. (The critics panned it as a departure the heavy, slow, thudding of the previous albums but I thought it was crisp, deep and intense). Rush's,,,,,,well any of Rush, but Caress of Steel with The Fountain of Lamneth and Necromancer is tied with Fly Night. Eagles Greatest hits. I know, 's cheating using a Greatest hits album, but if you listened it without knowing it was a greatest hits album you would think all the tracks were written specifically follow another on an album. And of course, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, the word "Masterpiece" was created specifically describe this album. When I listen it today it has the overwhelming effect it has on me the very first day it was released.

Here are some genre defying groups move me. Hugo Kant, Achillea, Irina Mikhailova, Faun, Omnia, Subway Sally, Night wish......................................
