I think it depends on the situation to be honest and the participants, but I like to think of myself as quite an expert in humiliation in all forms, whether it's verbal or physical. Let's be honest, any village idiot with half a brain can hit someone, in fact in some cases you don't even need a brain. Equaly, any village idiot can string together a sentence of abuse - in some cases it might work for people in some it won't. It's the implied menace that's the key. Humiliation is something that has perplexed Me. I could certainly humiliate a submissive, but to what extend? What would turn her on? And what might be offensive? If given a humiliating task, would or should I include corporal encouragement to see that she follows instructions to the letter, completes her task within a specified time, think up scenarios that are truly humiliating in her eyes, etc. There is a lot of psychology at play behind humiliation. There are lines that should not be crossed. In other words, humiliation should not become abusive. And that can be a very fine line.

Humiliation is relative to the sensibilities of the individual. Some may be totally humiliate dom or a submissive may be into humiliation, but they really have to mesh for it to be effective.
