Buzz Aldrin was here for the 50th Anniversary celebration at the Kennedy Space Center. There were so many people jockeying for position to meet him I just stood quietly in the back admiring this brave man.

Actual Living History, not the pre-packaged political kind. It's something you'll never forget.

Did anyone call out, "Hey ... Dr. Rendezvous! " ?

Thanks for visiting.

Epilogue:

When returning inside The Lunar Module from his Moon strolling on 20 July 1969, with his lifesupport gear on and in the cramped quarters of the cabin, Neil Armstrong accidentally damaged the main circuit breaker to his spacecraft's ascent engine with his backpack. Ooops. The circuit breaker broke in the "OFF" position. Double Ooops. So, the engine was permanently turned off. No engine, no liftoff from The Moon, no returning safely to The Earth. OMG Ooops. Buzz Aldrin, the unqualified astronaut whose mind was always trying to build a better mousetrap, soothed his Moon mate, asked for a moment to consider the problem before notifying Mission Control, conceived of a solution, got Armstrong's approval to try it, and fixed/reset the breaker without short circuiting the entire control panel (and spacecraft).

Little known but true episode, published by The Orlando Sentinel .. later that year in 1969.
