Anyone who's worked for a company with a fair number of employees probably recognizes these people. Hell, it could probably also apply in a larger family dynamic or other setting.

Damn right! I'm the President of our Homeowner Association and we try to do a lot of the work around here ourselves to save money and keeps dues minimized. I know these people well - Too well.

I bet most of you in the peanut gallery are familiar with the phrase ... "10% of the people always do 90% of the work". In my experience with any organization I've been involved with, this is true.
There are the worker bees and then there are the lazy assed bees with the innate ability to manufacture an excuse in 1/1,000,000,000th of a second.

That's why, on many occasions, I just do things myself rather than put myself in a situation to be dependant on others. I have one owner here who is quick to volunteer and as slow as molasses to 'produce'. You'd think I'd have learned by now!! OK peanut gallery ... Bonus points if you can name the movie the title of this blog came from.

As long as the guy who has no idea is not the boss...or maybe that is a good position for him. 😀

In many cases, it is the boss who has no clue .... Or so it seems to everyone who works for them.

Don't we all know more than the boss - or think we do?

BTW I used invisible ink for my Klingon Bird-of-Prey tattoo. 😀

Did you know when you ran out?

I think birds of prey are some of the most magnificent creatures on Earth. I could watch a hawk or eagle ride the wind currents for hours.

There's also the guy that does nothing, but gets all the praise for a well done job.

Probably the person who vanishes on the front end and reappears at the conclusion to brag how instrumental they were in any success.

Yeah ... Notice how they never reappear when thigs go waywire?

Yeah ... Great movie. Is there such thing as a bad movie if Paul Newman is in it?

I loved the knife fight. A swift kick to the cajones brought that dude down in a hurry.

Coding can be fun...

Great movie, but so was "The Sting" starring the same duo of Paul Neuman and Robert Redford.

I always thought the raindrops song was catchy, even been used as an Ad jingle.

I joined my Board to start a replacement effort for our aging roofs. I got the money needed with a budget adjustment, made sure mine was one of the first (as a test case on the work of the vendor, of course.
Once started, I haven't done anything since. So, which guy am I?

Plzrmeister replies on 9/30/2021 10:25 am:
Shrewd move having your roof done first - Given, of course, the vendor actually turned out to be proficient.

Started and then did the disappearing act .... Hmmm ...You're the 'Tom Sawyer' guy .... Convinces everyone else how fun the project is so that they wind up doing it.

There are 2 kind of people " Those that say what they do & those that do what they say " !!!!! Choose carefully !!!!

Plzrmeister replies on 9/30/2021 10:28 am:
Yep ... There are people that are long on talk and short on action. I know some of those ... Have an All Star 'Talker' here in the Association. Knows everything, but does nothing.

Productive people spend their time doing .. Not talking.

A great movie with two of the best actors possible. I did like that raindrops song !

Plzrmeister replies on 9/30/2021 10:34 am:
I think Paul Newman only surpassed himself, acting wise, in Cool Hand Luke.

Strother Martin, the warden in Cool Hand Luke, was in this movie too. Remember his character? Here's a hint ... "I've got morons on my team."

Plzr,

Good point, fortunately, the vendor was great. We have 214 units, the last roof will probably get done in 2026 or later.

I fancy myself the opportunist type of guy, but Tom Sawyer is cool.

Wouldn't Tom be considered an opportunist extraordinaire? Telling how fun it was to paint a fence until they asked him if they could do it ... and even gave him some of their treasures if he'd let them.

In the case of your roof, opportunity knocked and you answered. Glad it worked out!
