Bleeding Brakes and other fun stuff

So yeah had some fun this weekend...my brakes have been feeling spongy...I actually put on new rotors and pads last week and no real big change.

I mean the car stops..but there is that play in the pedal ...

Like most americans I don't bleed my brakes when I change pads..never had to...it is a pain to rip off all four tires at the house/in my garage...

So honestly I forgot how to.bleed brakes
..I went to harbor freight to get one of those cheap ( 25 bucks) one person brake bleeder devices... it works... but really is a joke..lets more air in that one wants...I thought it was just me but apparently people in the youtube vids had the same problem.

Sooo like an idiot I will be redoing my bleeders again today
Apparently the solution to the air bleed problem is lube...put some grease on the bleeder nipple screw and makes the hose connection air tight. Air can't be sucked in during the bleeding process then.. I think I was sucking in air into the system the whole time.

It really is frustrating to do all that work and to think that you did it wrong...

I'm just hoping this time I see some vast improvement...not looking forward to ripping off those 4 tires again in this heat....

But if it gets results.. then it will be worth it

Hi, just changing the rotors and pads normally does not require bleeding the system unless the fluid level is empty in the brake master (thereby trapping air)
If you are doing this by yourself it can be difficult.
you can always try what the call a gravity bleed...(no brake pedal pumping required)... all you need is the proper wrench and a pan to catch the fluid . take the top off the brake master cyl. then crack open one of the bleeder screws.... in a short while the fluid will slowly start to drip out.... when it looks like about a quarter cup close the bleeder and move onto the next one..... By the way if you can get under the car enough you dont have to take the wheels off.

Have always done the gravity bleed too with good results, but don't how it would work on a car with ABS, haven't tried that
