A split between the generations..my twitch thoughts I love how gen x,y,z,q, or whatever generation plays the.." we are different" .. Like it is somehow new...I mean hello your parents did the thing in the 70s..you might wanna google it. But I'm thinking this cultural shift isnt media driven, isnt driven by political party..isn't a created narrative that plays well with the teens.. I am starting think there is this divide.. Now i am not this " get off lawn" old guy.. But i believe there is that sense of entitlement from this generation. Which goes way deeper than something as silly as participation trophies. cares if a 6 yr old gets a trophy for playing a sport. Take " twitch" for example.. it started as a platform for gamers. Much like youtube..then it added in the funding element( fans donating the gamer) . The real reason for the funding element was generate longer or more frequent content from the gamer...he can't be online making content if he is also pulling a shift at mcdonalds). Which is fine because some gamers provide entertainment..it is work them. Some are online gaming for hrs a day. Then they edit the Feed into shorter portions. It isn't a stoner just sitting at his computer. But then the other 99 percent went uber on this concept and also wanted the side hussle/ . They think they too should be famous and get paid. So okay...just like youtube or house flipping...there are people that do make / it is their career. But the average joe isn't getting rich off of it. There are few " ninjas" there I personally watch a few gamers..they are entertaining. But 98 percent of the rest are bullying another, using obscenities, being dicks...that think their shit doesnt stink. They are " salty". In this world being a dick is cool. Homophobic, racist taunts are the norm...from preteens no less. The girls are no better. While there are females on twitch that can well and have huge fan clubs.. The rest run around in skimpy attire get .. woman literally wears nothing but body paint I am not blaming twitch..nor youtube or whatever.. gaming doesn't make your into a jack ass or your into a slut. But it does provide a spacefor this negative culture to breed...and profit from it.. We wonder why the younger generation feels entitled..gets triggered easily?.. Simply jump on twitch and watch a few the various games... Or go youtube and type in " salty player." This is the generation of the " wannabee" pro baseball player.. now it is in bigger numbers and it is about gaming you know the where the dad pushes the ,gets him on the travel team, pays for coaching or time in the batting cages.. treats the like he is a world beater and blows smoke up his ass Cause they believe their is the next brice harper..and that will lead millions of dollars So you end up with a generation of salty that believes they deserve praise, fame,fortune, a house, free college.. They believe life should work like a video game. They believe all it takes is vote a certain candidate in and everything is good.. You literally have a generation that believes student debt can be simply forgiven. |

 And yes this isn't a generational divide.. i..like most teens watch twitch,youtube etc almost exclusively now.. It really is the next wave of entertainment. I was talking about the younger generations attitude.. These kids grow up in a world where certain behaviors are not only tolerated..but can be profitable. I am not suggesting twitch /youtube doesn't censor content...the top gamers never swear,don't use homophobic slurs, never drop n words ..etc. they are professional and treat their feed as such. Twitch heavily monitors their content and will suspend them Gamers like ninja are beloved by millions because he is kid friendly. Alot of kids watch his content. But it's hard to censor joe average guy on there..alot of people are asshats... And every ten year old acts like he is a star just cause he has a mic

You complain about teens who get triggered easily yet you seem to get triggered by girls wearing skimpy clothes on twitch or people asking for money. Just move on and watch something else.

you also suggest here sarcastically that the young ones "might wanna google it," yet when somebody sarcastically suggested that you yourself google something in another post a few days ago, it set you off so much that it inspired at least three separate diatribes. pot meet kettle.

Kara, There is a huge difference between dudes acting like a douche and real behavioral problems. Alot of these male players bully, intimidate, uses racism, homophobia. There is a huge difference between a cute girl gamer and one that is literally objectifying her body for pseudo fame and real money. Hope as a woman you can tell the difference

Dick...didn't I blog about you previously...the guy that nit picks the smallest of things that he misses the point of the blog. Have you even been on twitch or YouTube? Both sites are a good barometer of the next generation.
