MORE DELETED PHOTOS OF CATS ON THIS PIECE OF SHIT SITE - IF YOU'RE A PAYING MEMBER YOU SUPPORT THIS SORT OF GARBAGE...

Mostly I just wanted to share the picture, because there’s not a whole lot to report. It sounds like he adjusted pretty well to his new forever home, exhibiting some familiar behaviors that both eve and I know basically just mean he is getting used to his new life. We’re proud to have taken a feral cat that was destined for a tough and likely short life and helped to socialize him enough that he is now going to have a great existence. Hooray for all involved!

Meanwhile we have two ends of a spectrum, still waiting in limbo:

Jazzmine has been venturing out from her safe space more and more, and as her trust in me has grown so has her proximity. I don’t have any pictures to prove it, but she has become a bit of a lap cat, nearly rushing to crawl into it any time I sit or even kneel close to her. She still gives the occasional halfhearted hiss or growl in the direction of Breo and Smudge when they are near, but her confidence is building in a very positive manner. I predict she will spend some time sleeping with me this winter, when it gets cold, because her corner is not heated at all. I’ve put a makeshift bed there, to hopefully help retain some of her body heat, but it’s up to her to make the choice to come out to join the rest of us. I think she is making exceptional progress and have high hopes for her future. Whether or not she gets adopted really isn’t a concern; if she does, I’ll miss her terribly, but I would be quite happy if she never left, and am acting accordingly.

And then there’s Smudge. The pictures I will post of him will be deceptive because they will invariably depict him in calm moments of rest, like this one:

That’s because the rest of the time he is chaos incarnate. Are you headed downstairs? Smudge will dash down and meet you at the bottom before you’ve made it out the door and placed your foot on top step. Want to walk across the room? Better do it in dance steps like a ballerina because Smudge is down there somewhere, weaving in and out, darting back and forth, just so darn excited at I don’t know what. He examined every inch of the house he had access to, thoroughly, within the first fifteen minutes of being set free. Curious, practically fearless, and a complete ball of energy - please somebody adopt him. Now.

That furry fuzzy blur in the middle there is Smudge and Breo wrestling for dominance. If it weren’t for my buddy, I think I’d be overwhelmed just taking care of the kitten and keeping him occupied. He really is a tiny terror.

If you do add in Breo though, you can imagine how much work I’m getting done these days, and how much better it would be if “work” was something like running an animal rescue shelter instead of making porn. Food for thought. Meanwhile, Breo is making friends with Smudge, mostly avoiding Jazzmine, and overeating a bit because I am terrible at refusing his manipulative cries, coos and chitters. He knows which songs to sing, and I react how I believe Pavlov would have if his dogs had been the ones training and experimenting on him. I hear, I cave in, I feed. And he grows chubby.
