Out of practice Life has been a little manic over the past month or so with lots of change underway. But change, even if it doesn't always feel like it at the time, is generally a good thing. Most is outside of my control and I think I'm doing a pretty good job of rolling with it all and finding the positives. All this has meant I've become a little out of practice at writing blogs but hopefully I can get back into the swing of it soon. Another thing I've become rusty at is wearing heels. I used to wear them, teamed with a suit, every day at work. I'd think nothing of wearing high heels whilst commuting across London and beyond and keeping them on all day. However, a general disinterest building over time combined with my impending departure from the company has led to me turning up for work looking, as a dear colleague described it, 'a bit scruffy' compared to the past. Still, I'm crossing off the days to go on a calendar and I'm sure there'll be a new found sense of smartness when I start working somewhere else wherever that is. There needs to be! I recently decided to dress up a bit for an evening with my lover. After I'd set up the room (the one with the hook in the ceiling) as instructed, I donned a full set of black lingerie, a lacy LBD and heels. I walked around a bit to practice before he arrived and teetered somewhat but thought I'd be fine. However, after his arrival, I barely made it up the stairs without breaking an ankle and after a few minutes of standing still with my dress hitched up around my waist and my arms tied above my head I developed terrible cramps in both legs to the point I had to ask to be let down slightly so I could take the damn things off. What are you out of practice at? |

Nice legs! Those calves were just MADE for heels...but I get it; just not worth the discomfort sometimes.

I've just got in the habit of wearing these incredibly comfortable (but not very business like) old boots I've had for years to work instead. And life outside of work means opportunities to dress up are limited. Some retraining is clearly required!

Lordy that made me giggle....I have been having issues myself after a broken foot in the fall and now some stupid scar tissue!

After a knee replacement, sadly those skyscraper delights are off limits, but I found a pair of low to flat sexy boots with fishnet stockings (mine have lace tops which are corseted around the back of the lace...feels very sensual to have the silk ribbons brushing the back of my thighs as I walk) allow me to stand for a little while at least. After coming up to five years of serious unwellness, I am very out of practice. I dread when it is time to hold a position. Used to be able to stand with my arms out wide, hands holding differing implements for hours. I can feel the shakes begin just thinking of doing so right now.....laughs. I think there are precious few of us as the years pass us or we have gaps in regular play, are found wanting in one area or another. All part of the challenges and adaptations which come at us all. Good luck with the practising, do so feel the cramping pain in empathy with you. For the Sun so loved the Moon that every night He died, just so she might breathe.

It is SO good to see you back around these parts. You have been missed. As for practice; I need lots more time with ropes and knots. They used to be second nature but these days I have to THINK!
