5 December/ SInterklaas!

Yeah, Yeah, it is in Dutch!

it is a party.
Something to do with a old holy man... Too long ago, i dont recall the core of the story.
Anyway,
get spoiled rotten, on Sinterklaas.

Weeks before hand, they are, sometimes, allowed to put their shoes by the stove/ CH or ..
So SInterklaas and his helpers Zwarte Pieten, can put some small gifts on their shoes.

Also, Sinterklaas goes on top of the roof of houses, to put gifts through the chimneys...
When people still had woodburners, stoves or gasheathers....

You can tell small ANYTHING!

My sister and her husband, did invite me, to come to their family Sinterklaas party..There are 4 still believers, so they need some presents.

And the older alreay know, their parents lied to them!

So i a have a lot of anticipation, because i am going to give my sister a lot of presents.
First i am going to put extra giftpaper on the present and after every layer of paper, my sisters name will be on it.
So, the gift wil be going form person to person, untill it end with my sister.

Ofcourse, i will buy some small gifts for the who still believe...

Every one brings something nice to eat with them, home made.
So it wil be very bussy and i will enjoy it.
Helping my sister out, with puttin all the food on the table and all that.
Keeping an eye on the at the same time...

But thanks for sharing it as I have learned something new today!

I remember my nephew as a child with a very concerned expression while Sinterklaas checked his big book.

Gowron,

Yes, i know! some children will have nightmares because Sinterklaas is coming...
Poor children!
So afraid they did something wrong, and now they are going to be taken away, to Spain, because there is were Sinterklaas lives....
He comes every year by boat, with his helpers the Zwarte Pieten.

The terror, we adults can bring upon children!
For some children.

Wel.. when the christian believe and god came in to the world and people's life, they needed to do something, to stop all the pagan festivals, so they made that their Church festivals...

I am not sure, it that counts for Sinterklaas too, though...
This is more some folkore, very old story, something, i believe

davina,
it is,
And more about the joy of the children when they see their gifts, and all the sweet they get to eat.
That special magic.
Taking their gifts with them, into their beds, because they are soo happy with it.

Mayby,

Oh, i understand, we were very poor, so we never knew if we would get something in our shoe.... or not.....
( or for our birthday, to be frankly)

Always first put a carrot in your shoe, for the horse, and straw too....
I still believed, but could not understand that whole horse on the roof thing.

I can inmaging your feelings!
Adults can be soo rude! To their children.
