Remembering day, 2e WW 4 May, we in Holland remember all the people who died, in the 2 WW. Now, with all the struggle/ wars going on, some people also remember ALL the victums, of ANY WAR, ANYWHERE. I really appreciate that. The whole day long, there are radio en tv programs going on. People come together, to listen to stories about their survival in those horrible years. I listen to the storys. I only think, this should happen, all year round, once a month or something like that. Those who survived that horrible war, and those death camps, slowly die.... And, with them, their personal stories.... And, tomorrow, "we" are going to celebrate the end of the 2e WW. With a lot of music, and, again, here, a lot of public drunks! Puking in peoples gardens.... Out of controle... 😝🤔😡 Disgusting. |

Unfortunately, it is of far too little use to think about them, the people have stayed the same and not a bit smarter! Greetings Master Remi

I always remember this Remembering: They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

World War clouds are gathering once again I fear...☠️☠️☠️...😥

The Dutch suffered mightily under cruel German occupation. Deportations, forced labor, executions, terror and starvation were a part of their daily lives for five long years. We should remember the dead and honor those who gave their lives to liberate all of Europe from the degenerate ideology that caused so much death and suffering.

Robert, Thank you, I did read some stuff about the NSB people, who worked together with the Nazis.... Some where even worst then the waffen SS.... just ordinary dutch people.... ýour' neighbours, so to speak.... scary shit! There can be a hitler in all of us...... there just have to be the "right" triggers. lack of a moral compass.. ethical awareness....

accent, i can inmaging that!

accent, They do? i did not know that.

Yes, there were collaborators and even Waffen SS companies recruited from occupied territories. Forcing people to choose between betrayal of their neighbors/principles and execution or starvation is cruel in and of itself. Sometimes, there are only bad choices and worse choices.
| ||
|
What i read, was people, who went into the NSB organisation, freely and far before the war ....like in 1936..... There was no pressure to collaborate with the nazies, in those days... yet.... Farmers, mayors, lawyers...... Thinking this was the best solution, for every one.... I agree, bad or worse choices.... That left a lot of people in such a mental bad state...so much pain....

drmgirl, Yes, to me, it is a very powerfull thing to do. Not just 2 minutes, but during the whole day...... Listen to the stories, from those who survived that horror. And, their children, too, who are traumatised most of the time, too. By the silence, or the anger, the nightmares, the trauma of their parents, aunts, grand parents....
