A Christmas tree of two meters,

You must know, that most things at my work place is a bit of a mess.
You know?
HoarderS?
People who collect all kind of stuff, and cant get rid of other totall useless shit?

That is how the workplace looks like....
Works totally on my nerves...

All that rubbish, that is not used anymore, for years, to look at the rust on it....
Collecting dust.

So is the case too, with all the Christmas trees...
Everything is a mess!
Trees that do not match the branches or leaves.....
Drives me mad!!

Incomplete trees, only the top of the tree, nothing more.....
Hmmm, so, i got to this shamble of tree parts...
wich did not fit, any tree trunk!

Finally, i worked this one tree parts out, it was all one large tree..
SO, i go on, building this tree getting bigger, taller and taller.

I really like that!!

I called in, for some help, put this tree in a standard.
Ofcourse, there was not one standard that was big enough to hold this big tree
They all collapsed on the floor!

That, i found very funny, picking that damn tree up again.

So, this one man, helped me make a good standard filled with rocks.
Now it was stable.
Pfffff
Finally i could finish the lower parts of the tree.
This too, was a disaster, because all the parts were everywere!!
In more then 6 plastic bags!!

An other colleague said, to this one staff member; why dont you help this little lady (?)
cant you see, she is far too short to finish this tree?
We all laughed.
Give her a ladder.

Later on, the tree was finished, finally!
and now it was time for the lights.
My god!!
So i found some lights, checked that they work, and gonna finish the tree, friday

I am going to put black balls in it, and some purple garlands.

We are keeping this tree on the workfloor,
for our own Christmas celebration.

And i am going to be sure, some of the "spare" parts are going to get thrown out!!

This one woman, staff member, wants to keep all the left over parts of the non existent trees!!
So you can use them, for decoration....
Yeah, like seven bags of 'spare'parts?
Not, if i can help it!

And, while i am at it, i will ask, if all the old rusty tools can get thrown out?
So, we will have more working space.

I cant stand that amount of clutter.

Living, creates clutter, but this is of an totall other level.

I am very proud of this tree.
It is a really nice sight.

boh,
Thank you,
Yes, i know.....

It seems trauma connected, somehow....
Creates a (false?) sense of safety?

'It's not clear what causes hoarding disorder. Genetics, brain function and stressful life events are being studied as possible causes...'
If any of the tools are used for assembling the bicycles you work on, you MIGHT want to hit them with some WD-40 and put then in a plastic bucket for a few days before wiping them down and seeing if they're in good enough condition to use once again. If they're BEYOND recovery, then they can be recycled, I would think...
I seems, Rosa, that you are an employee that is WILLING to go above and beyond what other employees have done in recent years for this organization, and you take on and COMPLETE things that others have left for 'someone else' to take care of for this store. They need to show you some SERIOUS appreciation for your dedication, effort, and hard work that you regularly perform for them!!

Inorderliness is the enemy of a workshop like where you work. After work in our former goldsmith workshop, my father always packed used things onto their place. They had their own place. This is why technical life shall be started as an apprentice (if someone don't have a family member with a workshop) where such additional things are "taught" like packing, cleaning the working space and work safety, these are hardly taught in the school, or, when it is taught, too general, too nothing-saying type.
I am grateful to my father that he taught us such unestimatable skills.

hungaroboy,
That is what i learned, too.
In my training for car mechanic...
Also in all the construction work, i did on houses.
The situation can become very dangerous, when you dont put back the tools, where they belong.

BillywildMartin,

Aah, thank you.
You are right.
Some of the tools must have been in use, 40 years ago...
very old, damaged, too
They only can be put out of order!!
Their value is in the price of iron, nothing more.

Most people "working" there, work and life on a totall other, different (mind)?) level..
They are there, to pass the day, not to really work and archieve something...
just being present is a goal on its own, getting out of bed, out of the house, is an archievement on its own....,
This has an influence on the staff too.

I have a very high work moral, ethics.
They dont understand that..... lost that...? never had that???

Hi Rosa, that's how I was, as well, when I was working, was always the first one at the shop in the morning, would go the extra mile on a daily basis to make a customer happy, paid attention to details and respected the people and their homes when working in them and TAUGHT the helpers that same respect, as well as how to do a job correctly without cutting corners. Caught a lot of flack from other employees, talking trash behind my back that I was 'bucking for a raise', 'sucking up to the boss', etc. but I let it roll off me like water rolls off a duck's back, I only know one way to do a job, the RIGHT way! Keeps the customers happy, the owners happy, and if you teach those working with you those same traits, they end up being happy as well, with a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, and the pride of knowing they done their job well. Didn't want to have anything to do with ones that would stand around with their hands in their pockets waiting to be told what to do...it CAN be taught (high moral, work ethics), but if someone doesn't want to make the effort, mo amount of teaching/training will help those that thing the world, or their boss OWES them something. I think you and I would get along GREAT, Rosa, would run circles around the rest of the employees, and you know, sometimes that type of enthusiasm is 'CATCHING/CONTAGIOUS'!!! I hope the owners there recognize your GREAT efforts and work habits!

Hello BillywildMartin,
Thank you, i appreciate your story.
I was always that way, been told be be an ass kisser too, to the boss...
Not at all interested in that, just in doing my job..because i get pride out of it.
Thats all.
The majority of the folks working there, are a bit too far gone, sorry to say.
Most had a real bad start in life, or too many things gone wrong, and did not have the power, or the help, to build something up, for themselfs..

So, getting out of bed and just bé there is their accomplishment, for that day,
alas
Some have had real bad drugproblems, some are on probation, and an multitude of other problems, some have a real bad anger management problems, very short fuse, some are really heavy under meds...

I think we will, too.
I have an other, not so nice, story for you, about that workplace....
