Health,

When older people, have to go to the hospital and get pneumonia,
it is most of the time, the end of the show.

Ofcourse, doctors, try their best,
But are very bad in accepting that life sometimes, is just over! done!
and try and try, beyond what is considered respectful to that elderly person.

Have seen it happen, to my daddy...
To a friend too...

The husband of my sister, in the hospital, is having pneumonia, on top of all the other ailments.....
broken collarbone and gods knows what else....?
Well, metastases everywhere.....

Ofcourse, although he is terminal, the doctors still keep pushing meds in to his system.
He is getting antibiotica......

Sometimes i really wonder, how much money those doctors get, by doing so....
I find this behaviour so very unethical.

He is terminal, help him, by giving him painmeds, so he is able to make the move over....
Not try to make his conditions worst, if that is even possible...

This is a very strange old and new year -celebration- Not so!

I am just waiting for that one call, telling me, he is dead...

I believe they should bring him, to a hospice, so he can die in peace with the right kind of care....
No hassle, anymore....

I offered my sister to come to her place, go with her to her husband in the hospital, is she wants that....
She was very glad with this offer....
That is all i can do....

The suffering is huge for everyone... it is hard for me to accept that empathy is dead among those who should have it by default.
The older we get, the less they care and people are left on their own, almost like no one cares... it pisses me of, it is frustrating and sad in the end...
It is so very thoughtful of you to be with your sister during this difficult times, dear Rosa... stay strong, for both of you 😘

Sometimes the family of the patient has to speak up and say "NO MORE" especially when the QUALITY of life is NOT being taken into consideration by the Hospital staff. I KNOW that sound ironic and cynical, but it can be true and it can be something that gets overlooked.
It's ALWAYS so hard to watch someone you care about having to fight so hard for a few extra days, or weeks, it has ALWAYS brought me to tears, I hate seeing people suffer, especially in those conditions were you would HOPE they might be saved...
Being there with your sister is HUGE, Rosa, she'll be forever GRATEFUL that you did what you could to help and support her during this difficult time. I wish your brother-in-law, your sister and their family and you ALL the Best during this MOST difficult time! May God bless you all!

1benquick,
I agree fully, with you,
My sister is a bit of a docile woman....
any "authority" figure.. you know?

Today, it came to me, that maybe, my sister is not ready yet, to let go of her husband.....
Thát, too, can be the case....
I could ask her that...maybe....?! sighs...
Feeling so helpless, powerless....
Thank you for your view, i agree with it fully.

melt,
Yes, i understand, they should put in their college, how to handle, with respect, those who are dying, under their hands.. and how to learn to accept that..
They are not gods!!
Thát would make them a hell of a lot better doctors... in my believe system.

ExName,
yes, it is terrible, how 'we' treat our elderly people.
or any one who is terminal.... in this case....

You have to take care, of your own health system, for the future, if you might need help...be prepared.
Yeah, well, you know, in the end, my sister has to go through this on her own, even when i am with her and can be of support for her.....
She told me, she will let me know, when she would like me to be there...

My Mother died from a fall in July, apparently, she was my father's primary caregiver in the nursing home. Thankfully we were able to get him Hospice care at the home and he went in his sleep in October. It is tough to stop the hospital procedures once they get into the system but having Hospice Care he was allowed to give up and not be overly medicated except for pain meds.
