She was, indeed, a beautiful woman. She was married twice to the same man, Carlo Ponti, an Italian film producer, twenty years her senior. She was only 16 when they met. The first marriage, in 1957, lasted only 5 years, before being annuled due to charges of bigamy against Ponti. After he got a legal divorce from his first wife, Ponti remarried Sophia for the second time in 1965, a marriage that lasted 42 years, until Ponti died. Sophia was able to welcome two sons. Cary Grant also loved her and wanted her to marry him, but she stuck with Ponti, who, among other things, was a father figure to Sophia, who admitted to never having had a real father. Peter Sellers, as well, had affection for Sophia. Among her countless awards, Sophia won an Oscar for best actress in the film, "Two Women." Sophia Loren is still alive, at nearly 90 years old.
