If I was served this in a restaurant, I'd be pleased.

Gonna type up the Recipe so that I don't loose it. The recipe comes from Claire's Classic American Vegetarian cooking.

Artichoke Pie
Ingrediants:
3 tbs olive oil
1 medium sweet yellow onion
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup of chopped cilantro or italian parsley
1 can of artichoke quarters, drained and chopped
5 basil leaves, finely chopped
1 cup of grated cheese of your choice - I used goat gouda
pepper
1 chopped scallion
6 eggs
1 pie crust. (I made my own by hand or you could buy one from the grocery store)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Place garlic, olive oil, onion, parsley in a pan and stir fry until onions are soft.
3. Place artichoke hearts, cheese, scallion, and basil in a bowl. Mix with a spoon and add spices (pepper, whatever)
4. Break eggs into a cup and lightly beat.
5. Pour the oil/onion/parsley/garlic mixture into the bowl with the cheese mixture. Mix around with a spoon.
6. Pour eggs over mixture.
7. Pour entire mixture into crust.
8. Place in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. When it is done, let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Silly Felt Hat
I made a very silly looking felt hat today. It has three "antenna" looking things coming off the top. I wore it around campus most of the day, enjoying the sillyness of it and getting a lot of strange looks. For my midterm, I'm thinking of making a really bright, really BIG silly hat. Apparently Kool-aid is the best dye for wool, so I'm going to pick up a few packs tonight and see what kind of garish colors I can make.

(note: the pic is NOT my hat. My hat is a sorry small version of the wonderful hat shown here. I found this hat online at feltfaction.fi after I made my silly felt hat. )

What good is Art school again?

Today was one of discovery. I have discovered how to make felt from sheeps wool. Now, if there is a total breakdown of society and I'm stranded somewhere with some sheep, I can make cloth for fabric. (See! my arts education is good for something! really). Course, the way I learned, I would need to have some soap and some bubblewrap..not the usual things one finds in post-apocalyptic society. Also, no one wants to wear the cloth that I made today - itchy, smells like wet dog, and my color selection is brown, grey, and more brown. Still, I felt rather swanky today as I created a wool purse with an inlaid pattern and a cover flap.

After my wool adventure I proceeded to my next class where I continued chiseling a copy of my head/face in a block of plaster. (once again, can't you see how useful this art education will be in the real world *heh*) I have a new respect for people like Michaelangelo, who had to use stone. Plaster is really difficult enough. I can say that I'm excellent at carving hair. The face on my carving looks rather like a grey alien, all narrow and flat instead of looking like a human face.

Tonight after school, I headed off to Whole Foods to pick up my current drug of choice: Silk Soy Coffee. As I walked in the store I was bombarded by the abundance of flowers for sale. Usually the store only has a few sorry specimens and a handful of potted plants...but not today. Today there were asiles full of roses, tulips, and other cheaper flowers - all for prices that you only see once a year. My personal thoughts on flowers at Valentines day is that I beg my boyfriends to NOT get them for me. I really find that the tripling of price of flowers is just so bad that it does not make sense to buy them. I also do not buy flowers for my dates either. I actually prefer to not celebrate Valentines day - not cause I'm a bitter single (which I'm neither) nor because I'm anti love...I would call it "Anti-commercialism in the name of love". I don't see the sense in anyone spending extra $$ just because it is a certain day. If I want an offical day of "Love the Almondnut" then I would pick a day that is unnoticed so that prices would be normal. I'm quite happy to be sitting at home, updating my blog, and playing chase with my three cats.

Tonight: homework. I have a huge test on Thurs.

Lesbian wedding dreams

Early this morning I had a dream that I was marrying a friend of mine. She's a very nice lesbian woman who I get along with. In my dream I was sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture. I kept hearing this voice say over and over "when you complete the neckline, then you will find the one". After class, I walked out to the bathroom where I found my lesbian friend in a wedding dress. However, the front of her dress was hanging weird, as though a piece of it was unattached. I reached over and adjusted the snap that was hidden on her dress (she didn't know about it) and in my mind I heard the "complete the neck line" thing. Suddently I realized that I had to marry her and I looked down and I was in a wedding dress as well. She and I walked out of the bathroom holding hands, and right outside was a wedding cermony. In the background was my family, giving me weird looks because I was getting married to a woman. The ceremony involved a lot of laughing and in the background some of my male friends were setting fire to the ceremony chairs to celebrate and then blowing out the fire before it became out of control.

I'm not a lesbian and I don't have any pyro urges so I have *no idea* where this dream came from. Maybe Indian food makes your dreams weird?
