Too Much Free Time

I am retired - yes! - and have a pretty active life that includes reading, playing and listening to music, walks, crossword puzzles, and the occasional lunch or dinner with friends. But that still leaves me with *a lot* of free time and I spend (too) much of that here. Now, that isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does mean I have to manage hopes and expectations. That I am here a lot and can usually reply to messages in real time does not mean others can. So, I have to be understanding and patient - the latter not always easy to do - and let things unfold as they will. And, maybe, get a new hobby to fill the days, although I have developed a flair for recreational napping, and perhaps that will suffice.

I Like to Talk (Chat)

From The Maltese Falcon:

Sam Spade: I like to talk

Kasper Gutman: I distrust a close-mouthed man. He generally picks the wrong time to talk and says the wrong things. Talking's something you can't do judiciously, unless you keep in practice. Now, sir. We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk.

Like Gutman, I am a man who likes to talk to people who like to talk. So, not interested in a scene but are interested in conversation? I am a good talker - and a better listener.

Happy New Year & Forgiveness

This is the beginning of the Days of Awe - the days froim the Jewish New Year through Yom Kippur. Happy New Year.

We (Jews) traditionally ask for forgiveness for our wrongdoings from God and from our fellow human beings during this time. So, to those whom I have wronged here - on Alt - please forgive me my transgression. I hope to do better.

Scenes -- We Are a Team

I am a team-player; always have been. I try - really try - to acknowledge the contributions made by others in pursuit of a common goal. Shoot, when my dermatologist looked at how well a scar from surgery looked, I was quick to say "I have a good surgeon."

This absolutely applies to the scenes I participate in here. I always try to talk to my scene partner *before* we start, am open to suggestions when the scene is in progress, and offer words of thanks and appreciation during and certainly after the scene is over.

After all, it takes the two of us to make the scene work in a way that is mutually satisfactory so why not be open about it and give credit and thanks where it is due.

I am not sure how my partners respond or react to this - if this makes me a partner they want to be with again or not - but I feel better for offering a tip of my proverbial cap to their active participation and creativity.

"Ghost" messages

I have seen an increase in these. I get an alert saying that I have a new message - the little mailbox confirms this - but there is no message to be found. I go to the account where Alt sends notifications and there is a notice that I have received a message. I go back to my mailbox and search and - nothing. Then I have to write to the person and say "Hi, I got a notice that you sent me a message (attached below) but I can't find it. Please resend." (I do this because basic courtesy and civility require me to do so.

Sometimes I get a reply; usually there is no reply.

I have reported this to Alt and all I back is "We have not been able to duplicate the problem." Groan.

Has this happened to others? How do you handle it?

9/11/23 -- Noticed others on Alt are reporting this - maybe it will persuade the Alt tech stuff to find the cause and fix it.

Best wishes for a Happy Labor Day weekend. May it be safe and sane and perhaps just a little kinky, too.

Ghosted By a Woman - Again - Damn You

There are men on Alt - bad men on Alt - who are deservedly called out - although usually as a group.

Well, there are women here - rude, inconsiderate women - who think it is a game to initiate a chat - encourage a visit to a room - and then - poof! - gone- like a Ghost. In high school we called such women (girls) teases and, later, cock teases (ct). Turns out some of those girls CTs grow into women CTs.

As with the bad men who spoil Alt for the (mostly) good guys, these women spoil Alt for those women who don't need to be defined by the number of men they lure and leave.

Caring Sadist - An Oxymoron?

I have learned that here - on Alt - not only do I like to write about putting women in helpless positions/circumstances where I can play with them as I choose - but I also enjoy inflicting pain. Turns out I have a streak of sadism in me. But it is circumscribed by the fact that I want to direct it to a specific end - pleasure for me and my (somewhat) masochistic partner. That means I have to be attentive and caring even as I inflict pain. So, a caring sadist? Oxymoronic? Possibly. But that's me - at least I think it is.

Equipping a Dungeon - What Should Be There?

I write stories in which the victim ends up in my dungeon to be tortured, abused and humiliated.

It goes without saying there would be wide array of restraints - handcuffs, shackles, zip ties, ropes, and places to secure them fixed in the walls - gags, blindfolds, collars, leashes, nipple clamps, labia clamps, electric tools such as cattle prods, tasers, violet wands, and floggers, whips, canes, etc.

Plus: St. Andrews Crosses; Adjustable gallows; cage; Regulation prison cell; Suspension gear; Piercing needles; Candles; Dry ice (burns as badly as heat); Fresh Lemon juice (or other astringent); Spanking bench; Vaginal speculum; Dildos of various sizes and shapes; Butt plugs; Tattoo gear; Branding iron; "figging" substance (ginger); Medieval rack; Pear of Anguish; Iron Maiden with adjustable spikes; Modified breast ripper (to wound and gash, not to take off); Dunking bench (a device that can be used to lower her head into a bucket of water to simulate drowning and which can be used for waterboarding which also simulates drowning - d'oh); closed-circuit TV to keep a video log.

Other ideas? A bed, for instance.

No Pulling from Room - an Ethical Challenge

I understand the rule about no pulling someone from a room or not even mentioning another room. In fact, I have the same restriction on the room(s) I have created. But sometimes you want to have a "date" someplace else. What to do?

I have tried to address this by sending a DM to the person I am interested in to see if they would like to meet. ("Hi, I just saw you in the [blank] room and wondered if you would like to meet someplace else to get better acquainted.") If the response is favorable, we can discuss the where and when - again, via DM (or, I suppose, IM).

Does this qualify as "pulling?" Technically I suppose it does but it is not the overt "Let's go to [blank] room" in the room where both people are and where others can bear witness to the "pull".

So, to all, and especially room owners, is my strategy acceptable and sound or merely an exercise in sophistry and rationalization?
