Real Life Stress and Apologies

I am engaged in a very stressful project and while I try to keep the stress out of Alt (and the people I meet here) sometimes that just doesn't work. The result? I am preoccupied, abrupt, and less civil or courteous than I should be. My apologies to one and all who have wandered into this behavior.
The project, alas, goes on, but I hope this behavior stops and pretty darned quickly, too.

In Search of -- Active Contributors/Participants

I know - I have beaten this topic to death - and I am as guilty as anyone when it comes to joining a room - and I must have had a reason - and then staying without adding anything - content, opinion, bad jokes - or participating, although that goes only as far as playing/scening which I prefer not to do in public.
In any event, I have an ego room and vanity place devoted to my writing. Several people have joined the room - and I am delighted to have them. But, because I am a needy -of-a-gun, I would really like them to actively participate in some way - the easiest and least troublesome being to comment on stories written or in progress or suggest new topics and narrative arcs.
As for me - see, all ego - I'll try to better by the rooms I belong to.

Are Pictures from the Internet Permitted on Alt?

It has been my understanding that it is counter to Alt policy for someone to use a fake picture as part of their profile. Sometimes these pictures are of adult movie stars and models; and sometimes they are provocative ads; and sometimes, well, it could be anything, I suppose.
I have reported these as a matter of course as I find them intentionally misleading.
Am I wrong? Are some pictures downloaded from the net acceptable? If so, I might owe at least one person a sincere apology.
But if so, then doesn't Alt have a responsibility to take some action against the person reported? (Rhetorical - the answer, of course, is Yes.)

IM - So many Questions - Well, Two, Actually

I see more and more Altizens on IM and not in rooms (at least, not those I frequent). I understand that for many, IM has the advantage of being private, of not leaving a digital scroll that has to erased, and so forth. So, what are the rules of civility on IM? Is a polite introduction sufficient, such as, "I read your profile and think we might get along - would you like to chat and find out?" And after you send such a note (or you receive such a note) how long do you typically wait for a polite reply? Just curious. Thanks.

On Closing Rooms - Kept Hostage Going Away

We all have reasons to keep rooms open; heaven knows, I will until the bitter end. But it is important to know/recognize that end. This could happen for any number of reasons. (Talk among yourselves.)
For me, if people aren't going to interact in Chat or contribute via the discussion board then there is no reason to keep the room going. And I have no problem in just saying No. I have rooms to share writing and the truth is that I can do this writing pretty much anywhere and choose to do so here because a) this seems like an appropriate forum and b) being a good Altizen means contributing in some way.
So, Kept Hostage will live through the end of this month and then will be disabled. The writings that are there will move to NNFU's Fantasy Writing Room. And the Kept Hostage playroom will be renamed to something more generic on the off chance someone wants to live/scene one of the existing fantasies or create one of their own.
