There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Do everything with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.

Losing My Touch ~ Keith Richards

Ain't it funny how things happen
Just as we think we've got it all straight
Everything seems to be moving forward
But instead we just sit around and wait

Seems things are in a lock down
Nervous looks all around
Everyone is speaking in whispers
No one wants to make a sound

I'm losing my touch, yeah
Losing my touch
Losing my touch baby, way too much
Baby, get me out of here
It should be clear

Keep an eye on on your front door, baby
I'll be slipping in round the back
I just need a little, a little cab fare
And then I'll let you hit the sack

Cause I'm losing my touch
Losing my touch
Yes I'm losing my touch way too much
Baby, get me out of here
It should be clear, yes

I ain't going to keep it long, baby
But just long, long enough
I've got to pick up my passports
And I've got to get my stuff

Cause I'm losing my touch
Just losing my touch, baby, baby, baby
I'm losing my touch way, way too much
Baby, get me out of here
Well it must be clear

Losing my touch
Yes I'm losing my touch
Yes I'm losing my touch way too much
Baby get me out of here

Social media throws a constant curveball: nudity equates to intimacy. Sizzling swimsuit pictures? Connection. Shirtless selfies? It must be true love. But hold on a beat, everyone, because author Joanna Lannister just delivered a truth bomb that will rewrite the rules of intimacy.

Joanna declares:

Do you think you've seen her naked because she removed her clothes? Tell me about her dreams. What ignites her passion and what brings tears to her eyes? Tell me about her childhood. Better yet, tell me a story about her that does not include you.
Mic drop. Joanna redefined intimacy for the 21st century, and it is about to get serious.

Consider this. You can see someone stripped bare, but have you ever glimpsed the vibrant tapestry woven from their hopes, fears, and wildest dreams? Do you know the stories etched into their soul, the ones that shaped who they are today? Have you ventured beyond the physical to explore the landscapes of their passions and vulnerabilities?

Because true intimacy, friends, is a journey into the depths of another human being. It is about unraveling the layers that make them unique, the stories whispered in the quiet corners of their hearts. It is about witnessing their tears and celebrating their triumphs, even when you're not the center of attention.

The next time you believe intimacy is achieved through seeing some skin, ask yourself: Can you narrate a story about them entirely separate from yourself? Can you navigate the labyrinth of their dreams? If not, then perhaps it is time to crack open that fascinating book you have been skimming through and truly delve into the depths of who they are.

We can rewrite the script. We can redefine intimacy as a profound connection that transcends the physical. Celebrate the stories that make us human, the vulnerabilities that bind us, and the dreams that ignite our souls. Because that, friends, is where the real magic happens.

Limits in BDSM

In every new relationship, at some point, the topic of limits will be discussed. What are your limits?

Everybody has limits, in fact. It could be for health reasons, phobias, fear, safety, triggers, or any other reason that is unappealing or disliked. If it is unacceptable, unappealing, and unwanted it will be a limit. There will come a point in a relationship when something will become a limit. Think about this hypothetical scenario; a Dom suddenly decides he wants to see his sub-gang banged by a bar full of guys. Is that perfectly acceptable for him to do this without her consent? With no discussion or thought of her safety and well-being? What about her morals and ethics? Still okay with this scenario? She claims she has no limits, right?

For those who are uncertain or confused about what limits are, there are two main types - Hard and soft limits. A soft limit is something that may not be what you think you want at this time but are willing to try in the right circumstance or with a particular Dominant. Or you would be willing for your Dom to persuade you in a scene if the conditions were suitable. A hard limit is something that should never be done under any circumstance. The line in the sand is never to be crossed. As the relationship develops and a greater amount of trust is established, limits may very well change. What was once a hard limit may become something that is now pleasurable and part of a scene or may become a soft limit. Likewise, a soft limit may become a hard limit. In time, your risk levels will expand. For this reason, limits should be discussed from time to time to establish these new boundaries.

To establish limits and discover what your limits are, discuss what appeals to you and what you find unappealing. Whether or not you like or dislike an activity is a matter of personal choice, taste, and experience. For the new submissive, it’s important to look inside yourself and discover what your boundaries and limits are before searching for a partner. This could be absolutely anything you do not like, want, find appealing or whatever. Maybe you hate your feet being touched? Maybe being enclosed in a tight space because you suffer from claustrophobia? There are also unwritten or obvious limits that need no written contract, which is anything illegal, animals, minors, etc. which are far outside the ‘moral’ code of human behavior and a D/s relationship. Basically, anything that is of no interest to either partner will be outside their boundaries and will not come into the dynamic and become absolutes.

Pre-arranged limits are different from personal limits. These are mutually agreed upon by both partners before a D/s relationship is entered into. These could include; no third parties allowed into the relationship, maximum number of people allowed to join a scene, etc. These lines are never to be crossed without a prior discussion at the very least.

Limits are also used to help determine compatibility when searching for a partner. A little may search for a Daddy Dom, but if the DD has a hard limit RE ageplay and that’s your kink… or maybe you don’t like pain and your new Dom has a limit that insists on sadism towards the sub. Again, communication is the way forward.

Limits can also be positive with regard to D/s. For example, a submissive may only enter into a scene (or relationship) with the strict instruction that a lot of spanking is to be included or she is not willing to participate (or enter into a relationship).

In a long-term, well-established D/s relationship there very well may be ‘no limits’ because both partners have established enough trust within the relationship and stay within the boundaries of their dynamic. To them, they play safe, safe, and consensually, and never step outside of their comfort zone. They know what is and is not acceptable. They know their own kink is in sync and want the same experiences. There is a level of trust that exists between the two partners that they can say ‘We have no limits’ because every part of their relationship is tried and tested, they are in tune and they know each other extremely well. There is no ‘outside the box’ to their dynamic, everything remains within the confines of what has already been established. Technically, they both have limits. It’s just that they are so in sync together it just ‘appears’ that they have none.

Never say you do not have any limits. Would you like to be suffocated? Tortured? Sleep naked outside? Maybe have your Dom's name tattooed on your forehead? Or branded? Now or somewhere in time, there will be something that you do not want or like or do not want to do. Know your limits and express them to your partner.

For the benefit of the reader. This article was written with the BDSM mantra of SSC, safe, sane, and consensual in mind. It is for information purposes only. Take from this what you will. This is also gendered universal.

Happy Earth Day 2024

More than 8 billion people inhabit Earth, and soon a springtime holiday will remind them of the need to take care of their home.

Earth Day, which takes place on April 22, dates back to 1970, when U.S.-based organizers were hoping to bring awareness to the environmental degradation they were witnessing across the country. Since then, recognition of the holiday has expanded to more than 190 countries who have added Earth Day to their calendar.

The holiday is both a grim reminder of the work that must be done and a celebration of the progress that has been made when it comes to climate change efforts. It's also been the catalyst for actions including the creation of international climate agreements and environmental agencies.

This year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics, which calls on government leaders, businesses, and everyday people to reduce plastic production by 60% by 2040. It is also calling for the full elimination of single use plastics by the end of this decade.

“The word environment means what surrounds you. In the case of plastics we have become the product itself—it flows through our blood stream, adheres to our internal organs, and carries with it heavy metals known to cause cancer and disease,” said Kathleen Rogers, President of earthday.org. “The Planet vs. Plastics campaign is a call to arms, a demand that we act now to end the scourge of plastics and safeguard the health of every living being upon our planet.”

Here are 10 interesting facts about Earth Day.

Earth Day was created by a senator
Gaylord Nelson, a Democratic senator from Wisconsin, was growing increasingly concerned over the state of the U.S. environment in the 1960s. After a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, Calif. in January 1969, he had the idea to launch a nationwide, environmentally-focused teach-in on college campuses, drawing inspiration from the anti-war movements against the Vietnam War occurring on campuses around the country. Nelson recruited Denis Hayes, a young activist, to help bring the idea to the public.

The idea for Earth Day came after a series of environmental catastrophes
Hayes, one of the organizers behind the first Earth Day, previously told TIME that the idea behind the holiday came following a number of events that drew attention to the environment, including the release of Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring in 1962 and the 1969 Cuyahoga River fire. Hayes said that while there were a number of groups in the U.S. working on different environmental issues—to reduce air pollution, bring attention to the impact of pesticides on farm workers, and more—they had never worked in conjunction.

“What we did was take all of those myriad strands, including wildlife protection issues, and wove them all together. It sounds strange today, but back then, the folks involved with those various causes didn’t think of themselves as having anything in common with one another,” he told TIME in 2019. “No one was asking that question at the end of the 1970s.”

More than 20 million people participated in the first Earth Day
Millions of people participated in the first Earth Day celebration on April 22, 1970. The event shut down Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, as people demonstrated and participated in street clean-ups.

“The holiday mood on Fifth Avenue was exemplified by members of the architectural firm of Warner, Burns, Toan & Lunde, who spread a yellow and‐white quilt on the asphalt near 57th Street, put a tulip in a wine bottle for a centerpiece and enjoyed a picnic in the sun. A laughing crowd gathered around them and sang, ‘Happy Earth Day to You,’” the New York Times reported that day.

Earth Day is on April 22 because of college schedules
The date for Earth Day was largely dictated by the schedules of the college students Hayes and Nelson were hoping to attract. April 22 fell on a weekday during the school year—nestled between spring break and final exams, when the weather was mild enough to allow people to be outside.

The Environmental Protection Agency was created after the first Earth Day
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which regulates mechanisms to protect the environment, was created on Dec. 2, 1970 as a direct response to the first Earth Day. Congress formed the agency after witnessing the huge participation in Earth Day demonstrations across the country, the EPA says.

“Last year some said there would never be another Earth Day. They saw concern for our environment as a fad, and claimed that the instant enthusiasm of an activist generation would soon flow elsewhere,” said William D. Ruckelshaus, the EPA’s first administrator during the second Earth Day in 1971. “I believe they were wrong.”

Earth Day went global in 1990
Millions of people participated in the first Earth Day movement, which led to the passage of key environmental laws, including the National Environmental Education Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and the Clean Air Act in the U.S. later that year.

“Earth Day 1970 achieved a rare political alignment, enlisting support from Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, urban dwellers and farmers, business and labor leaders,” says the earthday.org history page.

But its impact spans larger than just one country. The movement went global in 1990, after a group of environmental leaders approached Hayes to organize another major campaign for the planet, which mobilized 200 million people in 141 countries.

In the new millennium, the movement switched its focus to campaign against global warming, and as recently as 2020, over 1 billion people worldwide participated in Earth Day actions.

The Paris Agreement opened for signature on Earth Day
The Paris Agreement, the most significant international climate accord in history, was opened for signature on Earth Day in 2016. The treaty has more than 190 signatories, all of whom agreed to reduce carbon emissions and carry out other actions to reduce climate change.

United Automobile Workers union played a role in making Earth Day possible
The former head of the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union was one of the biggest contributors to the original Earth Day, donating $2,000 in 1970 (the equivalent of more than $15,500 today).

“The UAW was by far the largest contributor to the first Earth Day, and its support went beyond the merely financial. It printed and mailed all our materials at its expense — even those critical of pollution-belching cars,” Hayes told Grist in 2010. “Its organizers turned out workers in every city where it has a presence. And, of course, Walter then endorsed the Clear Air Act that the Big Four were doing their damnedest to kill or gut.”

Organizers are trying to have the biggest Earth Day cleanup event in history in 2024
For this year’s Earth Day celebration, earthday.org is working with Malaysian organizations to host the largest cleanup in Earth Day history. Penang Island, the country’s main island, has been impacted by plastic pollution due to tourism. At least 100,000 volunteers will be cleaning up the beaches and forests in the country, according to organizers. They will also plant more than 1 million trees.

Tens of millions of trees have been planted on Earth Day
Some 18 million acres of forest are lost every year due to deforestation, per the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization. To combat this, earthday.org founded the Canopy Project in 2010 and says it has since planted tens of millions of trees around the world.

How pot holiday 4/20 came to be

Today marks marijuana culture’s high holiday, 4/20, when cannabis fans gather in clouds of smoke at music festivals and celebrate with all-you-can-deals on chicken wings and other munchies.

This year’s edition provides an occasion for activists to reflect on how far their movement has come, with recreational pot now allowed in 21 states and the nation’s capital.

Here’s a look at the holiday’s history
.
Why 4/20?

The origins of the date, and the term “420” generally, were long murky. Some claimed it referred to a police code for marijuana possession or that it arose from Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35,” with its refrain of “Everybody must get stoned” — 420 being the product of 12 times 35.

But a consensus has emerged that it started with a group of bell-bottomed buddies from San Rafael High School in California, who called themselves “the Waldos.” A friend’s brother was afraid of getting busted for a patch of cannabis he was growing in the woods at Point Reyes, so he drew a map and gave the teens permission to harvest the crop, the story goes

.During the fall of 1971, at 4:20 p.m., just after classes and football practice, the group would meet at the school’s statue of chemist Louis Pasteur, smoke a joint, and head out to search for the Weed patch. They never did find it, but their private lexicon — “420 Louie” and later just “420″ — would take on a life of its own.

The Waldos saved postmarked letters and other artifacts from the 1970s referencing “420,” which they later kept in a bank vault, and when the Oxford English Dictionary added the term in 2017, it cited some of those documents as the entry’s earliest recorded uses
.
How is it celebrated?

With Weed, naturally! Some of the celebrations are bigger than others; Hippie Hill in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park typically draws thousands. In Seattle, one movie theater is offering a “dank double feature,” with Cheech and Chong’s “Up In Smoke” as well as the 1930s “Reefer Madness” era cult classic “Assassin of Youth.”

I'm going to see a great band tonight I'm celebrating in a very typical way. I wish you all a very Happy 420!

Being submissive isn’t a choice. You didn’t choose for your earliest sexual fantasies to include being restrained, punished, or controlled. You’re submissive whether or not you have a Dom/me or Sir or Master/Mistress. You’re submissive even if you have a long-distance D/s relationship. You’re submissive even if your D/s isn’t 24-7. You’re submissive even if you’re alone with your thoughts. You’re submissive whether or not you fight it, feel good about it, or bad about it. If you are submissive, you just are. And you should own it.

She was aware that she had the power to indulge in passion at any moment, with anyone, anywhere. Yet, she yearned for more. She craved to be pursued with fervent passion, to be consumed by desire. Her longing was not to be fulfilled by just any man but by a Wolf.

The act of being selective holds great significance. Safeguarding the innermost essence of our being from negative influences, toxic individuals, and superficial connections is paramount. At times, this requires patience beyond our desires, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a demonstration of self-value.

My favorite team in pinstripes is back again. Today is Opening Day in the Bronx for the Yankees. I was lucky enough to snag a few tickets to the game. The New York Yankees will play their home opener today in the Bronx. They face the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m.

It's a big day for baseball fans, who should be feeling good about the start of the season. The Yankees opened with a four-game sweep against the Houston Astros, then won two of three games against the defending National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Yankees will step onto the field with high expectations but also some renewed confidence after making a blockbuster trade over the offseason to acquire slugger Juan Soto. This will be the first time fans see him in pinstripes.

The 25-year-old joins Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup, as they try to get back into the postseason after missing in 2023. New York back to the Bronx with a 6-1 record.
